Nah I use to hear white people say black people cant swim cause of “bone density”. Which is stupid and not true. Some kid told me that when I was 12, I punched him in the mouth. He thought he was funny. His swollen lip was funny.

My childhood home had a pool so most of my family knew how to swim. But yeah, a lot of black americans are scared of water. I don't understand it.

Went to the YMCA as a kid, you had to learn how to swim. shyt we used to play tag in the water with the females, seeing who could get the nicest dive off the diving board. Coming into swim class ready to conquer treading water in the 8ft section of the pool. Also seeing who could swim laps the fastest.Went to camp, we played water volleyball all the time.

Got a homie who can't swim, a bunch of us on a party boat all I hear him say "if this bytch go down I'm done for, my ass can't swim!"

Nonsense. The earth is 70 percent water. It's one of the simplest life saving skills to learn. Everyone at some point will be in or near a body of deep water. Weather on a boat , plane flying over water, beach, pool, lake etc.

But lets be real here since nobody is saying it. A lot of black women are not getting their hair hats wet and wont let their kids get theirs wet either. At a pool or beach they only go waist deep at best. There is also the stigma of swimming being a white people thing. There are no real barriers stopping black folks from learning to swim cause even those by public beaches and YMCA's don't try to learn. Even a lot of black caribbeans and islanders can't swim which is amazing to me.

Learnt how to swim when i was 11. My lil sister taught me . I can't fathom why anyone wouldn't want to learn how to swim on a planet that's 75% water

We had it in middle school and high school. If you didn’t swim once a week you Failed.

I'mm willing to bet most black high and middle schools in America don't have swimming pools. I've never heard of such a thing. lol.

From what i can tell..im in Florida, aint no water for black folks.no pools..no lakes, ponds.for free at least.we got the beach but..aint nobody trying to learn to swim at the beach. .we aint paying to go in water..

White people have pools, and access to family water holes and shyt. Red neck lake spots and what not .they grow up swimming.for free.

Taught 3 of my exes
My oldest nephew and niece
The mother of my child
Her child
And our son all learned how to swim through the many many times I was in the pool with them... and yes all but one of the people mention (ex) are all A.A.
