I dont get why people with fan bases sign 360 deals

Nipsey not even a superstar like that and even he know he's worth more than that

Unsigned people with little to no buzz are the only people I see benefiting from a 360

Ashanti dropped her own album and it didn't do numbers like that, but at 28k first week, she's gonna get more money when it's all said and done than she would have with a 360 deal
Bingo in the bold text.
because fame is a currency as well. being famous gets you more groupie p*ssy, more status to "stunt", etc. for some people, that was the whole point to begin with.
A sad truth about the youth. It is no longer about making the best music.

Yea but the ironic shyt is these 360 deals are being offered to people already making money

Labels rarely offer money, especially big money to unknown acts

They expect you to do what labels used to be good for (making an artist hot) and then come along and give u some up front money to share the revenue the artist coulda made without them

didn't ti take one???

And we all know Wayne has one:birdman:

Yep. A sad, sad time in music right now. Do you know if this is a solely urban market problem because I do hear other genres going through this?

Hell no, neither of them have one

TI been signed before 360 deals even existed

Wayne also was re-signed before 360 deals took off

I dont even think Nicki got one, and Drake damn sure dont have one

Naw. TI said he'll sign one but he wants around $20-30 million to sign one. The majors are like f off.

20-30? I remember Tip said he wanted 75 million to sign his next deal

And no clue if the other genres are going thru this

Really? May you cite? The audacity of him, though.

Even though, it may have been hype but TI already know what time it is.

Got $75 million handy? If so, you can sign T.I. to your label ... the hip hop star just became the number-one free agent in rap -- and despite the steep price tag he's putting out ... some deep pockets are already lining up. Sources close to T.I. tell TMZ ... T.I.'s 10-year contract with Atlantic ran up only a month ago ... but he's already put together his own idea of a $75 million deal: - 3 albums - 10-20 percent of publishing, touring, merchandise, film and TV rights - Corporate endorsement deals - Exclusive signing of all Grand Hustle artists.

Another problem with hip-hop is this counterproductive notion of giving away free music. That is partially responsible for the downfall of rap. I mean people steal your shyt then hey but giving it away is silly. Rock, pop, R&B outside of Trey Songz (lol), and other genres do not give away free music. That's an indirect reason why no one buys rap anymore. A potential consumer is like why buy it if a million other cats giving theirs away for free. Thanks 50 Cent for igniting such a stupid phenomenon. People are buying digital but those sales are now falling.

so of the 75 million i wonder how much he would be requesting as an advance, and if that would be non-recoupable?

The $75 million would be the advance and the label would recoup that $75 million before he receives a royalty check and they would take 10-20 percent of all his earnings afterwards. However, I do not see T.I. making $75 million back for them quickly.

That's what we call a loss and more than likely a label would want a clause where he'll have to pay that back if x years pass or be taken to court.
