I understand the outrage but in the grand scheme of things they will continue to be the Redskins. I cant see Snyder changing the name of the team after all these years.

They need to change the name.

Obama should force them to do it as one of his last acts as president.

:pacspit: at the fact that this name has been used for so long, in our nations capital no less:wow:

Redskin is an offensive term, the degree of which would depend on individual sensitivity; however, it is not a slur. A better comparison would be if washington were called the Brownskins, with an accompanying logo that referenced an African. In no way should redskins be equated with niqqer, or to a lesser extent wetbacks, which are deeply injurious and disgusting slurs.

While I appreciate the idea that black folks should be more sensitive to the claims of other groups who feel offended by a racially insensitive term or slur, the fact that this writer focused exclusively on black and brown folks, and didnt include the group who created the logo and name, and are the loudest defenders of it, is intellectual dishonesty at best. I would label it as cowardice.

Fucc this dude that wrote this article! :pacspit: Why did he have to shyt on black folks to prove his point? :mindblown: Black folks don't have anything to do with this issue. I do agree with the people and understand that the Redskin name is offensive to Native Americans. I totally get that. But for this dude to take issue with black folks because we ain't as vocal protesting against the "redskins" name and organization is total bullshyt.

Where were Native Americans when Black folks were gettin their heads bashed in, dogs sicked on them, gettin lynched, beat up by police, couldnt drink from fountains? Native Americans we're not out in the streets marchin with black folks fightin for civil rights.

If this dude that wrote this column has issue with the name Redskin, then fine. But don't start bringin up a slur on black folks to support his position :pacspit:

:skip: Where were we? We were mostly dead :comeon:

I started skimming after reading after the fried chicken and watermelon comments. The Redskins' logo isn't eating horse and drinking whiskey or anything so why include that shyt:snoop: And ****** is nothing like. Like no bammer weed said, brownskins or whiteskins is more comparable. And why target blacks? Not only is the owner white, the majority of the fanbase is white. Seems like this guy been wanting to get his:mjpls: steezs on for awhile.

"RG III was drafted by these nikkas, he's had a lot of success running this nikka offense, and hopes to retire one day a nikka."

:laff:

But really tho, I understand their cause but I remember when they'd protest Chiefs games. What's so offensive about that name? Or the school in N. Dakota that damn near got sanctions because they didnt want to change their Fighting Sioux moniker even tho the tribe blessed off on it and found nothing wrong with it at all. Some of this stuff IMO is just faux outrage for the sake of faux outrage. What's next? PETA going after teams with animals as mascots and animal names?

Also why is it black plight is always used as an example to get something offensive changed but the moment we bring it up its us pulling the race card or "how did slavery affect you, it was so long ago"? Bunch of bs if you ask me

where did this idea come from that white people are the biggest defenders of the name?

i'm sure it wasn't just an assumption :leostare:
