^as youve previously stated in different words, this wasnt a real new york crowd.
they dont know about too short dissing anybody. and new york doesnt even care about that at this point.
the bottom line was that too short's performance was weak and sucked the air out of the show. oldhead looked like it was past his bedtime.
Nah nah nah:
The performance was weak, because of the honorees (fuccin' Kid Rock???) and they couldn't perform his most notable songs in primetime. It was like they did songs from the first (major) album and the last album he did, skipping material from the 18 in between...

A lot of the old school guys were upset with how it was being handled after the first few. VH1 and Fab wanted to bring pop rappers in and all that bs to get young people and ratings. They wanted more mainstream people doing the tributes. Between that and having southern artists on it it pretty much killed it.
They were denying people like Sadat X from being allowed in the building so they could have more pop rappers let in. A lot of old school rappers publicly came out against Fab Five Freddy and handling of the show and culture. A lot of the park jam rappers never liked Fab to start with. There's always been tension with Fab. If you do a google search you should still be able to find some open letters they wrote about the subject.
but i kinda get it. I was disappointed with how they did it. Im a nolimit fan and was cysed for them honoring P...but then they had Romeo do Bout It
, Silkk performing "That's Cool"
instead of" it aint my fault", Gucci doing I miss my homies
Plus, alotta dudes out the south are so dope underground and dont blow up until they damn neary
status, then people be like "this who yall fukk with?" Like, most people know Mystikal for "Shake Ya Ass"...Or Chamillionaire for "Riding Dirty" Thats not who them nikkas are man.....Just think if I watched Puff Daddy as a kid and assumed THAT'S NEW YORK! NOPE! SHINY SUITS, DANCING, ICE AND CARS, THATS THE EAST COAST...that's how they do us....I need to write a book on the shyt or something.. dammit man....
nofukk EPMD
People try to reduce pre-Carter Wayne to wobbledy wobbledy but that nikka was holding his own with grown nikkas at 15..i could go on and on...
i was just trying to figure out why missy elliott was honored before someone like queen latifah that one year
what grown men? he rapped with mostly other teenagers.
i agree with most of what youre saying tho. but they had alot of trash rappers on that show. they had one-hit wonders performing their hits. it came off as a mockery. even some of the southern vets boycotted the show before it was even taped.
also, it was way too early to be honoring most of the legit guys that were on the show.
and doing a whole show based on the south is a no-no considering that theyre seen as some of the main culprits in killing the genre.
