I used to have the same state of mind.

However I recently signed up to Spotify purely because of the PS4 app release. It's a bit more convenient than having my laptop besides me playing tracks. There's tonnes of playlists and other music I might want to listen to on the off chance.

A big plus for me though is that I can listen to stuff that I don't want to buy because I've not heard of the artists before.

For instance, Spotify has let me listen to the Courtney Barnett (never heard of her before last week) album and I'm now going to buy it so I can put it on my iPod. If I do that say 4/5 times a month with separate albums, it's worth the £9.99 per month imo :manny:

I have a 120 gb ipod classic

I like to control everything.

I'm a DJ and have rare shyt, freestyles, different versions and things not on streaming sites.

I understand why people use streaming services but I'm good.

How so? Digging thru spotify is the same digging thru the net. If you're not collecting vinyl, what's the point of keeping clutter known as cd's and further whats the point of downloading everything your hear/want to hear, how is having a file on your computer better than accessing a file from the cloud?

Streaming has made my life much better, all those albums I've had in an Excel sheet as "need to listen to"....I've been able to get thru faster since I don't have to spend time downloading, uploading, and syncing. I'm able to more fully explore genres I had a peripheral interest in. If I couldn't just type it into spotify and start building a playlist there, I doubt I'd spend the time searching for it -- i simply don't have the time to dedicate to this anymore. Lastly, I don't use my laptop often, so going to fire it up is a burden in and of itself

Just my personal thing, I dont think it's good to have such instant access to virtually anything you want.

To me it devalues music, when you can get it whenever you want

I love the game mayne

To me, the great thing about spotify is to be able to download songs.(as long as you subscribe to premium)

I work tonight, and Im gonna make me a playlist from spotify and download it. I can put new shyt, old shyt, etc. Then when im done, i just delete what i downloaded, but the playlists are still saved just in case i want to download again.

1. not everyone has 64gb smart phone

2. causals don't give a fukk about owning music or dl illegally

3. you have 64gb ipod, spotify has 1 terabyte of music in the cloud. you can access it anywhere with pretty much any device without compromising storage.

4. its free, you only have to sit through a 30 sec commercial.

so it pretty much play out like this..
scenario 1: drake drops new album.. you go scour the internet trying to find a zippyshare link for 10 mins..
scenario 2 : drake drops a new album, open up spotify and listen
wait i can upload my entire library to spotify and play it anywhere ?:ohhh: holy shyt this is a game changer

hmmm so i JUST dl'd spotify....im on the free shyts...i tried to listen to the Wale album, but it would only allow me to listen to it on 'shuffle' :why:

Is this is a feature to encourage one to buy the premium service? Or is there a setting I can change to change that shyt to standard play?

If thats how it is for all new albums Im off this shyts and back to torrents n youtube :sas2:

Religion is dumb b
Same reason people listen to music with beats. It apparently means you're in with the new/cool shyt and wish to spend money on bullshyt.

Nothing pro-tidal makes sense.

"I want to stream music for free" -Spotify, Just download the damn thing

"I want access to other music" -Use Pandora + Ad block, or you know, SEARCH. Either way good music requires actually time and effort unless you know about it already.

"I like high-quality music." - You know damn well you can't tell the difference between 320 mp3, flac, wav, aif, mka whatever you wish

"You don't have $10? BROKE ASS nikka" - Unless I buy this service I'm a broke ass nikka. Ight b.

About a month ago I would have agreed with you, but I just had a free month trial for Google Play Music and the shyt was awesome. Very convenient to have albums, playlists etc etc at your fingertips without having to search for links and unzip files and drag them to your phone. I didn't renew because i already have enough music myself to get by on and i'm cool with getting any new shyt in other ways, but I would never say it is dumb to pay for a subscription.
