We learned about this in college around 2009-2010.
This is all public information and has been public for awhile.
Americans are just ignorant
The majority of Americans are not aware of this. Only people involved in tech or people that gravitate to forums such as HL were aware of this.
What you're missing is that when this news broke, there WAS uproar. The difference is, this was an isolated incident at the time. Now with all the leaks, we KNOW the full spectrum of spying.
Oh and btw, the NSA operation inside of AT&T was ILLEGAL. They got away with it through a backroom deal with the government that gave telecoms IMMUNITY for working with the government in destroying our civil rights.
The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) filed a class-action lawsuit against AT&T on January 31, 2006, accusing the telecommunication company of violating the law and the privacy of its customers by collaborating with the National Security Agency (NSA) in a massive, illegal program to wiretap and data-mine Americans' communications. On July 20, 2006, a federal judge denied the government's and AT&T's motions to dismiss the case, chiefly on the ground of the States Secrets Privilege, allowing the lawsuit to go forward. On August 15, 2007, the case was heard by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and was dismissed on December 29, 2011 based on a retroactive grant of immunity by Congress for telecommunications companies that cooperated with the government. The U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear the case.[7] A different case by the EFF was filed on September 18, 2008, titled Jewel v. NSA.
you're speaking outside of your knowledge base and conflating multiple issues as one.
So has wikileaks turned these exploits over so companies can patch these exploits. Seems like that would be step 1 if they are doing it for the people.

Why in the world is the burden on Wikileaks?
Are you not aware that our government has active contracts with these tech companies that explicitly state that any vulnerabilities must be brought to the companies so they can fix them and make our networks secure?
Attribution only works if you are ahead of the enemy.
It also requires having intimate and working knowledge of how the enemy operates.
People seem to be overlooking the inherent success of our cyberwarfare systems.
The trillion dollar question is are we actually behind other countries I. Cyberwarfare as often suggested or is that disinformation?
I work for one of those tech companies in exactly those fields. so yeah, I'm more than aware.Why in the world is the burden on Wikileaks?

Also, why are you capers not holding private companies accountable for not finding these exploits in their own products?

These companies clearly DONT KNOW about the vulnerabilities or THEY WOULD FIX THEM.
Thats why the burden is on OUR GOVERNMENT to reveal the exploits so these private companies CAN FIX THE EXPLOITS.
