The sport is not life in France, Germany, or England. Shoot, its not even life in Brazil. Im not sure its even the most popular sport in France.

What those countries have is great organization, which the US lacks as well as great youth coaching.

The US follows the template of basketball, baseball, and football and it doesnt work for a sport like soccer where you need proper instruction from an early age.

are you serious? soccer isnt the biggest sports in these countries?, n...Soccer is everything in brazil..its part of the brazilian culture, its what people do as a part of their day..from kids playing on the beach to adults watching the leagues. and yes the biggest sport in france is soccer followed by rugby...england and germany are the same. Soccer is life, its what every citizen in these countries live and breathe, every bar restaurant, every city and village. its that love of soccer that has led to more funding toward great organization, compared to a country like the US. Notice the countries i mentioned have the best leagues in the world...deepest soccer structures(except brazil, who have the best south american league), where england has almost 24 levels of pro soccer from premiership to as mid essex football league..get outta here with that nonsense

Messi skillet of hand eye coordination, balance, speed, and ball handling would probably make him the best player in any country he grew up in as long as he was taught and pushed the right way from a young age.
