Wake.
It's so weird to me people that act/pretend to be offended that these women have the nerve to request a bigger share of the pie. If women's sports ain't your thing cool but it's probably best to just sit this one out and keep it moving. League is clearly growing and in a better position than it was 5-10 years ago when maybe some of these old ass arguments had some merit to them.

Also if the league is in such bad shape, not profitable / losing money etc. - why is it automatically the players fault and not failure of leadership if that's the case? There is absolutely no reason they should not be profitable over the term of their next agreement. Any criticisms of the NFL / NBA / MLB cats will shyt on Goodell / Silver / Manfred without a second thought.

It's just weird. I think I'd have to take a step back if I was on the same side of the argument as a Clay Travis and people of his ilk.

I heard that the league wanted them to quit unrivaled but still didn't want to pay them more money.

Call me when most talented player in league history Caitlin Clark learns how to go left

She's not the most talented in league history. But she’s unquestionably the most popular.

Yeah, by everyone in this thread.

Three expansion teams just paid 250 million a piece to join the WNBA. The Liberty sold a 20 percent share of the team valued at 450 million.

Now yes, the WNBA did lose 40 million dollars in 2024, but this is in large part due to the TV deal they are currently signed to, which in 2026 goes from roughly 45 Million annually to 200 Million annually.

This will result in essence in the league making money over night from losing 40 to a net gain of 115M just on the TV deal alone. Even if the game and ticket sales were to stop growing, and merch stopped selling, it would still be in the green.

The players don't want to be paid what the men are paid. They want 50 percent of league revenue, as opposed to the 9 percent they get now. They won't get that IMO, but they're well within their rights to ask.

The owners want to keep salary increases small, plus end athlete-owned offseason leagues like Athletes Unlimited and Unrivaled (which nearly broke even in its first year). Why the fukk would you side with the owners?

Well they should get the money when it appears. That’s all anyone here is saying.

Do you have a background in accounting, finance or M&A?

I'm gonna try to break this down simply:

If the WNBA controls expense growth, the new media deal could potentially move the league from a $40M annual loss to positive operating margins. But the net gain won’t be a clean +$115M due to rising costs, reinvestments, and structural scaling.

It's even possible that the league will need to use future revenues to service debt.

I, for one, welcome our new space overlords.
All they want is 50% share which is fair idk what grabbing the rim has to do. Also you suck a math you acting like the nba gave the wnba a loan. With the new deal they aren’t gonna need handouts anymore also revenue from other avenues is rising as players are more popular. This the most hater shyt I’ve seen. Did you not read @phillycavsfan or @RedBull post.

Sports owners never do shyt out of the kindest of their heart. You get what you negotiate. Most nfl /nba players stage lockouts but wnba players don’t have that leverage. Miss me with that fair and what’s owed bull shyt , you get what you can negotiate
