This is politics 101 on both sides.
Trump wants send out checks attached to his administration here around election time to say "hey look what I did for you." The reality is they don't give a shyt about people who are getting stimulus checks and they'll tack it back on in higher federal income taxes or some other manner later. Nothing is ever truly free.
Pelosi and House Democrats are also trying to be strategic in blocking this to take away a Trump talking point. Other Republicans in the Senate are likely to attach other stipulations to this money as well.
Typically in legislation to get something you want you give in to things other people want but you don't want.

GOP wanted to wait until now to see if the checks were needed. Since Trump is dragging them down, they need a cheap maneuver to get some votes.
McConnell an 'em will pass something that gives rich biz owners free money and let them off the hook for ANYTHING COVID related....even if it is their fault. Pelosi is like "nah.....we're gonna do this right and it's gonna hurt."

Republicans put out a deal they knew Democrats would reject, and Democrats countered with a deal they knew Republicans would reject. That way both sides can say they tried but it's the other sides fault, meanwhile millions of Americans continue to suffer while still supporting the same parties that continue to screw us over.
Here’s the thing the dems passed bills with stimulus and also lowered their demands . Trumps and the GOP stupidly tried to screw blue states and still are . Also Trumps offer isn’t a real offer as he Keeps Changing positions and so do the GOP . This interview is clearly more beneficial to Trump than anyone as in a week the dems have negotiated with Trump then been told by him and Mitch they are not passing anything similar to their bill ( dems ) snd only really pass things that make us the GOP look good. Why isn’t he putting this pressure on Mitch McConnell or Trump ? They had months to address this but was hoping that forcing things to open would work it didn’t and Trumps underwater with it so he’s simply trying to win the election.
