Got a new gig, military but its political like a corporate environment.

What are some tips? In a way im at my supervisors mercy until i make some rank, because they have to train me and basically teach me my job. They kinda do the bare minimum, and are trying to prolong me from going to a mandatory school that teaches me about my job.

They called me when i was off like "Yea we feel like you dont have enough field experience, we want to push your school date back 2 months:smugbiden:" They said this knowing im starting from ground zero and the formal school, thats mandatory will help me become more proficient at my job:rudy:i told em i wanna keep the date and they fell back.

What are some tips to keep in mind? I already volunteer for projects, show initiative, stay humble, work with the guys who been there for 20+ years, but some of em are still being difficult.

Don't let any of them into your personal life.

Best advice that's going to be posted in this entire thread right here.

In addition to that you have to set the boundaries early.
Cacs are habitual line steppers and they will see how far that can joke around with until they can reach their ultimate goal.

Luckily for me, in my past 2 jobs i've had my own office so its easy for me to seclude myself when the cacs start being too friendly.

I'm so used to it at this point I honestly cannot imagine working without my office to myself. Pretty sure its a deal-breaker for me at this point.

I have my own office as well. And I'm cordial in the kitchen and the corridor when I see people.

If I have to I just talk about day to day stuff and keep it light. But I'll never reveal too much about myself. It's all surface stuff.

Doesn't need to be said but never get involved in office gossip or share negative opinions on people you work with.

Oh and work wise always cover your ass. With emails I always cc in managers and keep a through line so no-one can try any shyt later.

Avoid after-work activities at all costs

Do not put any pics of family on your desk

DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN POT LUCKS

Don’t allow any cracker to start telling jokes as it will always lead to something bad

Always watch your lunch if you take it to work and prepare it in the break room

Always do your job faster and better than them, but watch out for having work dumped on you

40 hours a week.

Let them walk in flipping tables over, calling their boss a cocksucker.

Nobody says a thing.

The second your black ass has so much of a scowl, they WILL snitch to management.

Its a fine line between staying out the way of bs. and being detached to the point where they dont wanna consider you for advancements ....

Jus keep shyt simple...dont say anything youd mind being repeated and just try to keep shyt as reasonably superficial as possible. The most benign comment can and potentially will be flipped on you...now you in hr over some bullshyt

I'll take note of the family pics thing. And i came into the unit and made a point to work hard, and some other officers starting fcking with me like "We see you working hard staying late, you slowly winning me over:patrice:" I wanted to make that impression.

But in my department, some higher ups are kinda making it difficult for me to progress in learning my job, bc they have to train me. I been under them, trying to learn, but they play that card like "Ok you been getting field experience, coming to us for help, but you just not ready to advance on XYZ:mjgrin:"

It got me feeling some type of way, bc so far ive been playing the game, stroking these old ass cacs egos, asking them questions trying to learn my job ( as i should)

It just feels like they're withholding information, passing time, and in a few months they can say "Well, he didnt meet the deadline to get this qualification, we shouldve known his black ass was a bum, welp we cant promote him:win:" Then ima be assed out.

Just because YOU see cacs canoodling or horse-playing in the office doesn't mean the same is extended to you.:what:

Just because THEY are talking about Trump or politics in the office doesn't mean the same is extended to you.:martin:

Just because Brad is fukking Terri in the office doesn't mean the same is extended to you.:stopitslime:

Just because Tanisha is fukking David in the office doesn't mean the same is extended to you.:usure:

Just because cacs in the office call each other goofy names in the office doesn't mean the same is extended to you.:beli:

Do not share what courses, classes, seminars or the sort that you are attending outside of work to bolster your knowledge or gain an edge because these cacs will show up there or tell everyone else to go with you. :stopitslime: Always keep your plans a BIG fukking secret ESPECIALLY at the work place.

See what I am getting at here?

This is 100% true.

I probably posted this before but it bares repeating.

When i worked in Tulsa, needless to say most of my coworkers were cacs. And most of the men open carried.
They brought their guns to work, had them in their pants or on their desks.

All of them had guns, and they ALL had temper issues.
A server goes down "FUKKING BULLshyt GOD DAMMIT MAN!!!:damn:" slamming their hands on the table, etc.
They miss a dev deadline "JESUS F CHRIST shyt:damn:" screaming loud as hell.

You get the picture. Gun-totting cacs with short fuses. Stage is set.

Aight so ONE day I come in with a bad mood and I realize that some of my overnight scripts failed to run properly and I let out a loud groan.

Tell me why one of the open-carry cacs (Brian) comes into my office and is "You ok there buddy? You seem kinda upset?:picard:"

I'm like "i'm fine:skip:"

Then he goes "shyt man that was loud, I thought you were gonna shoot the place up!:sadcam:"

.....:dwillhuh:
You. got. to. be. fukking. kiddng. me :dwillhuh:
I was speechless... this cac with his gun sticking out of his pants is afraid that i'm going to shoot up the place cuz I groaned? :dwillhuh:

Cacs can't help themselves.
