That withhold info shyt is real. Be careful being too efficient. In my experience they see it as a threat against their own inadequacies, even as humble as I am.

As a newer employee, I have to be careful the way I teach/share info or processes. Peers and higher ups get touchy when you try to show em a better way.

Lastly, and it gets frustrating, but try not to show your :stopitslime: and :martin: over the extra scrutiny your work will get (and it will). Having that expectation in school made me more precise and outperform most of my white counterparts. These cacs downplay
your achievements and overemphasize your errors smh :shaq2:

When i worked in Tulsa, needless to say most of my coworkers were cacs. And most of the men open carried.
They brought their guns to work, had them in their pants or on their desks
What in the fukk :why:
You should have got hazard pay for that, insurance premiums skyrocketing and shyt. loose cannon, tightly wound cacs and guns :damn:

My boss carried too so i'm not even sure who I would complain to.

Maybe HR.
But they were probably carrying too :francis:

I'm telling ya'll Oklahoma is its own country.
Most of the stereotypes people use to describe Texas are better applied to Oklahoma.

Never forget this from 2016...

DONT TRUST ANYONE. No matter the race. People are always looking for info to hold over you. Act cordial, put a half smile on, but inside realize that YOU ARE ALL IN COMPETITION. What do folks do in competition? WHATEVER IT TAKES TO WIN :demonic:

You've been warned
very true, asians will have other asians back, but unfortunately we have double agents in our community.

Don't talk about your personal life. EVER. This is key
If you have to, be general as fukk.

Don't talk about your coworkers even if they annoy you to anyone especially to one of them that appears "friendly"

Don't talk about your future goals. If you have to be general about it.

Do not hang with these people after work. EVER

Don't eat the potluck.
Don't let anyone get food for you.

And remember show up to work on time, you don't need them using tardiness as an excuse to let you go.

ETA: Just wanted to add if you coworker is talking trash about another coworker to you, don't agree or disagree with whatever they are saying. Just say something neutral "Is that how you feel?" or don't say anything at all.

Talk about sports in general, if the topic ever comes up.

I’m a young retail breh and I dread corporate environments :scust:

I’m leaving my job next week:blessed:

The way they made me feel unwelcome and excluded was trash.

Need to be more on point and disciplined in future.

Joking for the most part, but man that danger was real. Crazy, as loose as AZ gun laws are, ain't never heard of people carrying in a corporate office but I'm sure it's more common than we think.

Company I'm at now got a couple stores in Edmond and tusla. Glad they ain't sent me to audit them facilities yet (maybe for good reason :mjpls:). I've never been thru OK before, I'd be a lil apprehensive from what I've heard tho

These have been said but its true Don't trust any of them!
- Story: Had a long term temp gig a while ago for a big pharma company. Part of the gig was every 2 years you had to take 3 weeks off so they didn't have to make you an 'employee' and give benefits, etc (like half the company was on this). My team was me and 2 white women, one a few years younger, one older. It was all friendly. Me and the younger one got hired at the same time so our 'break' was coming up around the same time so my boss told us to figure out when we wanted to take them since we couldn't overlap. Can't remember all the details but I told her I wanted to take mine in June cause my wife could get time off too and we wanted to go on vacation as we hadn't had a honeymoon when we got married. Ol girl said cool, she'd take hers the next month. So I go in the next day to tell my boss when I want to take mine and this chick had gone in and requested that time first. I was heated. I confronted her on it and she actually said to me 'well I wanted to get some gardening done' and walked away. These white folks will go behind your back and smile in your face like it's nothing

CYA- Cover.Your.Azz, They are some sneaky mf'ers with their 'eat what you kill' mentality, they will sell you out just to keep theirs. make sure you get all communications in writing. Document any discussions, details, deadlines... etc. If you have a telephone call - make sure you document said call with a follow up email listing exactly what you discussed. Do not destroy or shed any info that could potentially affect you later - scheduled time off, performance reviews, job description, promotions, professional development information. If you have to obtain approvals- keep those emails. Organize your outlook into subfolder categories so that important info is kept in different folders- they don't tell you, but companies will archive any general emails for a scheduled deletion time- usually 90 days. So by default, a lot of your info will be unrecoverable; or you can set up rules to automatically send certain impt emails to the folder.

Verify - if you are given instructions or directives, send an email to the person you spoke with listing out the details and have them respond back with verification. They will not hesitate to lie when sh8t hits the fan, so it's important to have all your shyt in order.

Leverage - Don't give them any. Don't discuss personal issues or expect any sympathy (it will be used against you eventually). Don't engage in any office gossip or hearsay. Just stay on task, focus. That way no one can put your name into anything and can't use anything against you. Don't expect to get the same treatment as they do. Your time is your time - I don't do those happy hours or extracurricular office events- that's their way of getting to know you when they don't need to; Let the work speak for itself. Don't get dejected - even if we work our azz off, it won't get recognized. We can do 100 things right, but guaranteed, that 1 time where there's a mistake.. it will be known and used to justify whatever they do to you. They won't try to hear your side of the story.. which is a big reason for my first point - C.Y. A.

Coworkers - Your coworkers are not your friend. No matter how 'down to earth' they seem; people are nosy af, and want to get in your business because they are either bored, have nothing going on in their lives, are a kiss-azz, or just want to conflict. Especially if you're a hard worker, they will view you as competition. Just remain a mystery. say enough to be cordial but keep it professional. Don't ever disclose any medical conditions. family or any personal issues that may affect your job performance - (if entirely necessary, go to HR to c.y.a. just in case you need short term disability or medical leave). Treat your office - like an office, not a personal home away from home.

Don't expect your black coworkers to you have your back - most are c00ns or they too will view you as competition or hate on you. Just take it at face value and assess. You may come across a few genuinely helpful blacks, but like I said - just evaluate for yourself when you interact. Eventually, they will reveal what they are about. In my 10+ yrs of being in corporate, IT and law, I had about 2 blacks in upper mgmt. that I could say were alright. (says a lot). They are mostly equivalent to their white counterparts but have black faces, they sold out to get where they are.

Just maintain your pace, get the experience and time in.. (or promotion, hopefully), then use that to either get a new job or transition to a new career path. Never get comfortable with any job or assume that you're a lifer. Always be prepared for the next move and plan ahead.

This was not only disrespect, but envy.

She didn't like the idea that a black couple would be going on vacation. She didn't have anything else better to do but work on her garden.
