yeah i enjoyed pops music because of his voice and presence. it was menacing as hell... but he was doodoo lyrically. didnt have a whole lot to say

basically style over substance, but i saw him as mainstream so that was ok

rap has so many flavors, no reason to stick to one sound. ill give most things a chance. i liked Pop.

I’d say yes. For the fact that when big l died he wasn’t even the best of the many many NY rappers that were popular at the time.

When pop smoke died in terms of new generation there wasn’t much else and after him what did we get… Fivio who is probably as old as Big L

yes, look at the remnants of his sound (Dusty Locane, Fivio Foreign, Sheff G, Sleepy Hallow). NYC drill is completely different now that Pop is gone, and it'll take time for the next talent to bring it back to level he was approaching.

That's cause Pop wasn't just a drill rapper. He was heavily influenced by 50 so he has good song structure. Those other rappers need amazing beats to stand out and the wow factor of drill beats wore off fast.

Big L almost had a "scary" vibe to him until you listened to alot of his work.

The crime was much different as well. There weren't that many cameras out and if their were they were low quality.

Outside of that song and BET playing the "MVP" remix video that was about it. Sure he had a major resurgence in popularity amongst the backpacker rap nerds during the Rawkus era but nothing on par with what Pop Smoke did in his short time on Earth. Pop Smoke was poised to basically bring NYC back from the dead.
