Would it be fair to say Pop Smoke was more important to NYC rap than Big L?

:francis:Both died to soon.
No disrespect to L but he had it coming. L was very much about that life but growing up in that era dudes really had to be, even the good ones. And by all accounts L wasnt even one of the good ones

Pop really didn't deserve to go out like that that shyt was very unnecessary

Correct because at least back then they still had young stars coming after for a decade. There’s no deal NYC star under 25 unless you want to say Ice Spice, the region dead.
U could say this for every region

The two most streamed 2000’s born rappers are from NYC

bigger in his time, yes

more influential? id say not at all. depending on how you define "influence "

Big L was among the pioneers of the style he was running with ...that others picked up and is still around to an extent today

Pop smoke was more of the influenced with what he was workin with rather than an influencer

Lord Finesse & Grand Puba don’t count huh lol

It’s close but I feel like big l’s legend has grown more in his death. Big L comes up so much on podcasts and I rarely ever hear people bring up pop. Sucks cause pop was on his way to being the new 50
