If John Cena is the only star who can close the show without the ratings taking a nose dive, WWE has some major problems.

They don't need to have Cena close. They need to stop repeating the same damn matches.

Reigns vs. Sheamus :snooze:

Barrett vs. Truth :snooze::snooze::snooze:

Big Show vs Ryback :snooze::snooze:

Paige vs. one of the Bellas :snooze::snooze:

Honestly, I don't think it has to do with the boring writing or stale authority figure or even the no unknown big name wrestlers, or even the 3 hr show (even though I believe a 2hr show would do better).

I think audience has outgrown "wrestling". They might tune in every now and then, but they won't stick around for an entire 2hr or 3hr show. Even if they went back to the attitude era and bring back tv-14, ratings would still be down.

I don't think we'll have a boom period anytime soon. Wrestling definitely is in depression mode, just look at TNA, a mere few yrs ago they were constantly getting 1.2 with ease, I know DA is offered worldwide but they can barely get above 0.3 and the product is better now than ever

You could argue your point, it's not too farfetched, but imo Pro Wrestling historically has ups and downs and people will never outgrow a good story.

WWE is simply not telling us any good stories, and that's just one of many departments they're failing in.

Completely deserved.

Horribly managed show.

They're gonna have to get their heads out of their asses....we are in a golden age as far as television goes...so much great content out there, only people truly interested in wrestling would ever watch raw.

Sheeeit...fans will even shyt on True Detective when they don't feel it's up to par. Vince thinks this current version of RAW is compelling?

Are people ignoring the massive fukking elephant in the room that is the Network here?

Personally, I've pretty much stopped watching Raw and Smackdown (ok, I rarely watched Smackdown anyway) now that I've got the Network as it's so often just rushed filler leading towards a PPV - if Raw was advancing storylines over multiple months then it'd be worth watching, but right now it feels like it's only there to allow you to tread water until the next 'real' show... with all the Network'd PPVs over the last couple of months (that I can watch whenever I like and not have to sit through ad-breaks) and the quality of the NXT weekly show there has been very, very little motivating me to go out and watch the broadcast WWE shows.

WWE either need to drop television altogether and move Raw and Smackdown to the Network OR they need to start putting in some serious effort to revamp the weekly shows with regard to story telling and longevity of angles. They probably do need to be shorter episodes, but they also need to look at the sort of entertainment people lap up these days - long, complex, twisting and occasionally shocking storylines over 10-20 episodes like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Wire etc - WWE need to break out of the four-week build format and let some storylines take entire seasons or even longer to build up... people WILL and DO tune in every week for that. At the moment I often feel like if I do get round to Raw, it's out of some feeling of obligation... not the sheer THIRST I have the night before a new GoT episode.
I think that you could just as easily argue that the Network should have led to more interest...casuals no longer hampered by having to spend 60 bucks every month for a ppv....I would think that launching something like that wasn't meant only to satisfy the hardcore. If Raw was consistently good, they would be swimming in money.

I agree 100 percent with your second paragraph though, like I said a post above...television is booming right now, Raw just feels lazy and uninspired to many of the shows out.

Yeah, ending the show with whoever won't mean a damn thing in the grand scheme of things. How about putting effort into putting on good television? Feels like a bunch of shyt thrown together Monday night :heh:

I may not be able to write a good show but I can damn sure mix up the matches

Rollins vs Ziggler
Reigns vs Owens
Cena vs Rollins
Rollins vs Ryback
Sheamus vs Cena
Rollins vs Neville

They could mix a lot of shyt up when Lesnar isn't there

Another thing, I know it was a house show, but I really enjoyed the look and feel of Beast in the East. They need to change the look and feel of RAW and Smackdown.

One of the things that stood out was that the production was handled almost entirely through J Sports (Cole mentioned this once or twice) and it was so noticeable because for a change the camera work was excellent. They actually filmed the show like a sports event capturing a fight rather than Dunn's over-produced and awkward "zoom in on this!" "zoom out on that!" "close-up of his face" "close-up of his face" camera work. It's incredible how much more real it looks and feels when you present it more seriously.

I cannot fukking stand that new Kevin Dunn style of shooting. I'm surprised more people don't complain about it, to be honest. Garbage
