And the ice is to cool the pot off. After you boil the crawfish you need to let them soak for about 30 minutes to an hour. I usually go around 45ish. But if you don't cool the pot off the crawfish are actually still cooking and NOT soaking up the seasoning. They'll also get soggy this way. Like I said some people use ice I like to hose the outside of the pot off with cold water.

Oranges add a little acidity and sweet to the heat. If you know what you doing. It also helps them to peel better.
I have a red grapefruit tree in my yard. I chopped one in half one year and it’s now my signature.
to have a good boil you need to put the right amount of water. My pots got a line from all the boils.

Lotta people eating shytty crawfish in this thread.

Poor things.

Is the liquid that you boil the crawfish in not drinkable like a broth or something? I'd save it to cook rice in like stock. I've never had a crawfish boil, I would love to though. But I always see people dump the contents out, I never see them do anything with the liquid.

Naw. It’s just water and concentrate seasoning. If you drink that shyt that would be your first and last time.

You want to get as much flavor inside the crawfish as you can after that the water is useless

My bro in law boils so much crawfish over the summer that I get sick of it :noah: Like "damn breh ain't you TIRED?! :damn: You don't wanna throw something on the grill one time?! :why:"

That being said. He's uses lemons faithfully and mushrooms occasionally. I really like the mushrooms, but then again i LOVE mushrooms :hubie: my main issue is with how they started it off. Them punk ass seasoning containers :martin: nah you need that PACK and then some

Three drops of hot sauce :dead: that ain't enough for a chicken leg

3 drops of hot sauce and a whole thing of cayenne pepper:mjlol:

Everything but the oranges and ice were respectable:martin:

I'm going to assume the majority of people that posted on the 1st page(as far as I read) are from up north because a lot of black people in the south boil their crawfish in similar fashion, mushrooms and all. Also the ice is to cool the water down and stop the crawfish from being overcooked because you let them soak in the water for 15-20 minutes.
