It's a loss anyway you slice it unless you got current Gen systems at a base price.

Paying 800 to 1k for a PS5pro and then turning around and paying 700-1k for a PS6 is a L.

But it's only about the value or money when it comes to Nintendo or Xbox. Most the people in here that have zero problem with paying 1k for a system also think paying 500 for a switch 2 is too much and 30 a month is too expensive.

But a raw 1k for hardware... Well that isn't bad:ehh:

Videogame consoles were created to be an an affordable entertainment device for the whole family that wouldn’t break the budget but only got expensive when you started buying more games and peripherals. Nintendo is the only company that continues to strictly follow this business model.

The fact that they were simple to use was a strong selling point and had an equally simple UI to navigate.

$1000 is too much for the average American…They also have to update all the damn time might as well buy a PC and play games on there.

dude, reality is a little more complicated than an inflation calculator. and I don't know why you need to go back to the PS4, when the PS5 launched for $500. a $1000 PS6 would be double that, in one generation, no matter how you want to Juelz around it
Really it's not. Purchasing power is always going to be more important than dollar value. It may be double that but 2028 dollars are worth less than 2020 dollars so the impact is less.

$1,000 for a console is OK.......if I'm getting a top-shelf system that can outdo any high end PC.

Why? The PC can be used for a lot more than gaming. The console is mostly for gaming and "maybe" streaming if you don't have a smart TV. You can watch your BluRay movies on it. Other functions like web browsing are doable but not convenient.

People will pay whatever if they think shyt is worth it.

So as always it comes down to games.

A new game console gets at least 10 years of support. If its $1000, that's $100/year. Meanwhile a $1200 smartphone barely lasts 1 year. As long as the hardware is good, as long as the exclusives are good, I'm more than willing to pay $1000.

And this will get rid of the casuals too. fukk em.
You go right ahead and be a fool all on your own that's on you...

Justify buying a $1,000 console w/tax possibly with no built-in disc drive and very few games to play in the first year of the life cycle and potentially technical bugs. A lot of folks out here struggling financially and there is no telling how much worse this economy may get by 2027 -28.

A $1000 consoles may seriously backfire in Sony & Microsoft faces respectively.

why dont yall just buy a PC?
I spent about $1000 on a 4080 Super on release day used it that day and haven't really played a PC game since.

Spending $1000 on a console isn't a big deal.
