A new game console gets at least 10 years of support. If its $1000, that's $100/year. Meanwhile a $1200 smartphone barely lasts 1 year. As long as the hardware is good, as long as the exclusives are good, I'm more than willing to pay $1000.

I sold my PS5 OG model w/two games on eBay for $330 plus shipping about 2 months ago. GS was trying to only give me $210 when I bought it in-store. I said hell naw.

eBay cause it's frictionless. FB marketplace is good for maximizing the money you make..but the hagglers on there are idiotic and exhausting.

You realize that consumers determine the success of these corporations right? A $1000 playstation ain't selling. Not even people who can afford one are going to buy one because it's all about value. To believe otherwise is delusional. Playstation not selling would devastate Sony because entertainment for Sony produces the highest profit, and playstation provides the highest profit of their entertainment businesses. Sony needs playstation to sell well.

A $1000 PlayStation will sell its just who to and the market size is the question. Either way gaming as we know it now is going to need to change. They can't continue on they way they have been. Either price acceleration will destroy them or they'll have to retool things to keep prices down.

nikka, this is crazy and y'all know my stupid spending habits. A phone provides way more utility and value than a dedicated gaming console does. Not to mention, these companies aren't going to support it for 10 years. This prices out so many people because then, the game prices start to look like Neo Geo and shyt.

The PS4 is 13 yrs old and still gets supported and game releases till this day. Hell the PS3 just had a firmware update last week
