Again you're being emotional instead of rational. Developers don't look at the cost of console when choosing to develop its how many units have been sold because those are potential sales for their title. The PS5 pro is considered a niche product and was designed for the consumer that wants the extra bells and whistles and the developers that want to push their game more. It's selling 5:1 which on the same pace as the PS4/pro model. If we go by your logic, then they would still be making PS2 games since it technically is cheaper than a PS5 lol. While price does factor into sales at the end of the day software will always be the deciding factor. PS5 pros were flying off the shelf just because people saw that RE9 look and ran better on their compared to the other systems. When the PS6 drops and it looks and runs better people are going to buy it. That's also not factoring in the system exclusives which it definitely will have.
What part of my posts have been emotional? You're saying that to discredit what I've been saying. I'm making valid points. A $600 ps3 almost took out Sony and they were forced to drop the price, yet a $1000+ ps6 with no disc drive is going to sell very well? Sony themselves said the ps3 almost took them under and that was their mass market device. The ps3 demonstrated that the playstation brand is not strong enough to sell an overly expensive console otherwise they would have repeated that mistake with the ps4 and ps5. This was after the success of the ps2 with all the hype in the world. Sony was not stupid and priced the ps4 and ps5 accordingly after the disaster of the $600 ps3.

Developers and those who are funding them consider what platforms to put the game on ahead of time. They are not going to want to spend $300+ million on an AAA game that's only exclusive to a $1000 console that's not going to sell well. A $1000 console guarantees all games including exclusives are going to be cross gen until they somehow get the price down.

Unlike the ps5 that dominated cross gen exclusive game sales, the average consumer would rather play the game on a ps5 or ps5 pro they already own or buy a ps5, assuming the ps5 pro is discontinued after the ps6 releases the same way the ps4 pro was after the ps5 released, than pay almost twice the price for a ps6 to play the same game. The reason for the former was because the ps5 released at $400 and $500 and people could afford the ps5 to play the superior version of the cross gen exclusives.

I don't know whether or not these nikkas are trolling or they are really that stupid because the reasoning in this thread is terrible.

IIt'll be an even harder sell nowadays since you have a lot of casuals who just play shyt like Fortnite, Warzone, 2K, COD and soon to be GTA which will already be running fine on a base PS5. You think they'd try to upgrade to a $1K PS6 just on a whim? It'll probably be even harder to get folks to upgrade unless there's a lot of big games/upgrades that are very enticing.

$700 won't do the trick either. Why pay $700 to play those games when their ps5 or even ps4 can play those games just fine? $1000 would definitely be a non buy for them. Only the enthusiasts and early adopters would buy a ps6. Once those consumers buy the ps6 sales would become almost non-existant because of casuals, a number of consumers that usually buy playstation such as stans, or new customers not upgrading or buying. Even with enticing exclusives, they are probably going to be cross gen so they definitely wouldn't upgrade since they can already play the game.

We'll just agree to disagree. If you want the latest in cutting edge tech there's an underlying cost associated with it. I don't think the PS6 will sell for $1k. But if the parts forced them too they will. But I would bet $1k that if the PS6 released for $1k it would still sale well.

I think you're underestimating the hardware that will be in the PS6 compared to the PS5. There will be a noticeable jump in fidelity. The new PSSR tech they just released for the Pro is some stuff they're developing for RDNA 5 with AMD that they released on the pro which is a hybrid RDNA 2/3 and you see that it looks way better than the base consoles. There will be a noticeable difference when the PS6 drops.

Said it before but.....

My guess is Sony will offer a $599 to $699 (maybe $649) digital only console and plaster that ALL OVER the advertisements.

Small print will say "$999 for PS6 with disc drive" but they won't go out of their way to mention this when Target, Walmart etc do the holiday ad-blitz. Unsuspecting folks will see $649 and jump to buy it for Little Johnny without looking closer.

People prefer disc drives if pricing is equal. They settle for digital because of price, not preference.

Microsoft is almost guaranteed to charge more, so they better make a product that's head & shoulders better.

Sony has to be careful of charging $$$$$ only if the NextBox is vastly superior technologically. At some point $899 vs $1,099 doesn't matter if $1,099 is world's better.

Disc drive consoles may get priced sky high to subsidize digital....assuming disc demand is high enough.

Agree.

Gamers in their 30s and 40s (basically Millenials) care about the raw power and upgrades.

Younger gamers...the Minecraft, Fortnite crowd....don't. That's another issue devs gotta think about.

Grown ups got the purchasing power. The kids behind us don't want what we want. Do you focus on pleasing the big money now or cultivating the younger gen that games on anything and doesn't care about latest and greatest?

Apparently the next xbox is only 15-25% stronger than the ps6. Suppose that turns out to be true, the only way MS is going to justify the price is by the next xbox really being a pc with all the features of a pc that can also play previous gen and next gen xbox games with a console ui and form factor. That way, they would be a very enticing option for pc gamers or people who want to become pc gamers for the first time since according to rumored specs, the next xbox would be a prebuilt top end pc that is significantly cheaper than other top end pcs along with a next gen cpu, next gen ram, and very serviceable gpu.

So you're saying it will be $599 to $699 for the digital only. But then magically jump to $999 for the version with a disc drive....So a Bluray disc drive is going to cost $200-$300. This is either a terrible troll job or you're just dumb. I'm going to assume it's both. Also the Series X was 20 percent stronger than the PS5 and how did that help them this gen? They're about to drop Halo on the PS5 this summer :mjlol:

If you can't afford to pay 0.27 cents a day for something then you have bigger problems than playing video games. That's like giving up a bottle of soda a week.
