Ya'll can hate me, but a $1000 console is not bad.

I have no issue paying that much for a console at launch. 5-6 years into its life however not a good deal.

Technically but we have paid less and there is no need to have that jump unless they add better specs inside. The current deal of 500 to 600 is fine.

I disagree with the games will get better take, that is just naive thinking lol. Companies will chase money and trend no matter what.

The phone comparison would make sense if people were not reaching the realisation that the new phone isn't a a significant improvement on their existing phone.

$1000 is not close to being decent. $1000 + tax just to play games. Of course someone could bring up gaming pcs, yet those are still pcs. Expensive phones are also similiar to pcs because they have features beyond communication. The ps6 would just be a console. That $1000 price would also be without a disc drive, extra controllers, other accessories, games, and PS+. Add those and that's well above $1000. Yes there are people who can afford that yet a number of those people won't see the value in a $1000+ ps6. Then of course those not as fortunate are going to be priced out. Switch 2 sales are about to surge and is going to be a threat. An xbox pc could also be a real threat assuming that has all the features a pc has. That could become the go to option for prebuilt gaming pcs vs. pcs that cost thousands of dollars for the same performance. The xbox pc will also have a cpu and ram that's better than current pcs that have a 9800x3d cpu and gddr5 ram and a gpu that's on par with a rtx 5080 for rasterization and a rtx 5090 for ray tracing according to rumors. Were they ever able to pull off $1000-1200 with all the features of a pc and nothing cutback , the xbox pc could do very well with the pc audience.

I was going to possibly buy both the ps6 and xbox pc next gen with the xbox pc being the first gaming pc I've owned assuming the xbox pc has all the features a pc has. Trade in the ps5 pro for the ps6, and the series x for the xbox pc. The xbox pc for pc exclusives, early access games, playing for free online, better/cheaper deals compared to playstation, playing previous gen xbox games, better performance for cross platform games along with all the other benefits of a pc such as emulators. The ps6 for exclusives, playing current ps4 and ps5 games I still haven't completed, and the best console version of games that don't run well on pc or have problems with online cheaters. I think the next xbox controller is rumored to have haptic feedback and adaptive triggers which I believe devs are going to place in all of the xbox pc version of games which is just the pc version so that takes away from that being a positive for playstation. However, I don't see the value in a $1000 ps6 without a disc drive so it could be the ps5 pro and xbox pc next gen.

This kinda thinking is the same kind of thinking that microsoft got yall believing you need to pay for xbox live back with og xbox... then over priced dlc then over priced game pass and now outdated consoles cost more 6 years then when they launched :francis:

$1K is a little high, but compared to GPU prices, that shyt is light work. You want the best GPU on pc, you're paying $2k+ just for the graphics card. Then you gotta buy everything else too. Consoles are a better value. Don't even look at what a water cooled GPU and PC costs. shyt is fire though :blessed:

If a $750 PS5 Pro can meet high settings on pc at 120fps, imagine what a $1k PS6 will do.

It's not that $1000 is bad it's that people don't think about the long term value of the purchase. If paying $1000 and getting 10 years that's a good value but all the average person sees is $1000 and a good portion of people don't live a life where that kinda money is easily available for a discretionary purchase.

the $500 console also got 10 years of support. the console (hypothetically) doubling in price, for a similar experience, represents a very different "value"

At launch a PS4 cost about $700 in today's dollars if inflation is factored in. That's not a doubling of the price it's a 30% increase and given the problems these companies face not unreasonable.

dude, reality is a little more complicated than an inflation calculator. and I don't know why you need to go back to the PS4, when the PS5 launched for $500. a $1000 PS6 would be double that, in one generation, no matter how you want to Juelz around it
