Damn, I worked at Ponderosa and McDonald's as a teen. I remember seeing those adults there and wondering how they made it. As an adult myself, I know that they were struggling. The struggle is real. You have to be a stone cold idiot for me not to tip you at least 20%. On occasion, I've give 50% tips. 99% of the world would tell you that I've made it based on salary. However, I don't look at the next person as if I'm better than them. We are all trying to do the same thing, work an honest job, take care of ourselves and our families and enjoy our time on this earth. I'm not going to ever knock someone's hustle, especially if it is legit.

I don’t feel sorry for them really. I just understand their position and be as courteous as possible.

I remember working at a gas station for six months and it was still the worst job I’ve ever had. I dreaded going in there every day.

There was a dude I went to junior high with who was working at Wendy’s when I went in there like 4 years ago. It was a little strange, but I didn’t know his situation.

Why was the gas station the worse? You ever work fast food? I thought fast food would be the worse.

I know a lot of y’all look down on them, even if y’all don’t wanna admit it, I honestly never cared, I never cared at all.

I get my fast food and go my way, I go to the store, try to check myself out or someone else checks me out, then I leave.

If I’m at a restaurant I eat and tip, then I go on my way.

I really feel I’m the only person that’s like this, it’s weird to me, people big themselves up on others making an honest living, and here I am not giving 2 shyts about what that person’s doing, I can care less, all I care about is that I get good customer service.

first off my apologies for coming off the way I did

see here's my thing where I disagree to an extent with certain people with the fight for higher livable wages

I do think you'd have to go according to where a person is based/living at.

A person in Cali wouldn't be making the same as say someone in Kansas, but they should be making enough to live day to day.

there's a lot of variables that could come into play that could directly effect the price of goods, especially when you consider tax bases in certain jurisdictions

but of course this is why we're seeing an influx of people being dissapointed with our current economic model, because we essentially have to work under those terms and conditions

I agree i was just making a joke about it....

Although I think the Seattle experiment has alot of other variables that should be considered. For example, Seattle has always been a wealthy, high wage city. In addition, Im pretty sure a burger at Mcds in Alabama is considerably lower than one in Seattle. Also, Seattle is just one city...If ALL McDonalds were required to raise their wages nationwide, do you think that the same prices/results from the Seattle experiment would remain constant?

I never understood why people are so against raising the minimum wage to something reasonable ($15 an hour isn't a lot of money for a part time job but it's a START). If you increase the minimum wage, the wages of other work would increase in kind to maintain the status quo.

Also, the cost of consumer goods need not be raised to cover the increased labor costs as most corporations have gotten decades of excess profits by raising the prices of goods and services despite wages remaining overall stagnant.

They've already adjusted for an increase in labor costs several times over. Now the labor costs need to actually increase.

It's not looking down on them but feeling sorry, why would I look down on them? I feel sorry when people treat them like shyt, meanwhile they're just trying to make a living. shyt, as far as I'm concerned one wrong roll of the dice and I could be in that same position.

The best part about not having kids is that you can try to do better for yourself, you don't gotta do those jobs to feed your kids.

But if your a mother or a father of two, three kids and you got no choice but to do that job to feed your kids, and you gotta deal with shytty customers, bosses etc.. that's wack. What is sad is the lack of freedom

I grew up with so many people that work for minimum wage. Black people struggling in my city. My family is not even that much better

People are against it because it is economically stupid to do, it typically harms the labor force for low unskilled workers, because you have brought their price up to a level they don't have the productivity to justify.

So you kick young adults and teens, low skilled laborers, and uneducated laborers out of the work force entirely.

Which typically is against the goal of the program in the first place.

You want to help people with low wages, make it easier for them to actually enter the work force and devellop professional skills that increase their market price naturally, instead of making an artificial salary floor, which kills the ability for them to ever advance professionally, because its too expensive to take the chance on developing them.

I had a similar thing happen back when I worked R&D at HP...

Went to get a last minute christmas gift for a cousin or whatever at an outlet mall... went into some random thift shop and got her an alarm clock with birds on it or some shyt...

Man the dude who checked me out was a dude I went to college with...he looked ROUGH...like sleeping on a park bench ROUGH...

He wanted that commission so damn bad...he was boxing out anyone else at the store from talking to me scared they were going to take his sale of this shytty little 5 dollar clock...

I was like damn the game cold :wow:

Also I worked at UPS for a few months...the first check I got :wow:

Straight up told the supervisor something GOT to be wrong with my check cause this aint enough...I done lost 7 pounds this week alone loading these heavy ass packages...:mjcry:

Looked me dead in my eye and was like it's all there:francis:

Had to double them apply clicks on careerbuilder and monster and indeed.com...I was like I can't live like this a second longer than I have to :wow:

UPS was :wow:...I knew a chick who was legit making like 30 dollars a week working their :damn:
