Im from New York myself and I just dont get it. I can understand thinking they are weird or corny or different or watever. But from a quality standpoint this shyt is like night and day. And shoot, Young Thug is weird, Tory Lanez is corny so is Drake, but the music still slaps, and the people still fukk with em.

The way the city riding behind these new dudes you would think they Nas reincarnated. When NONE of these nikkas got a song better than Peso. Besides a couple offshoots like Young Ma, and a couple local underground dudes here and there. NY nikkas care about everything BUT the music when it comes to our artist.

What hood he from? What gang he in? Did he sell drugs? Can he still come to the block! blaaaaaaah.
bunch of corny harlem nikkas

I disagree with this. as far as lines go and coherence throughout an entire song, Drake wins over Rocky.

Everything else, Rocky destroys the competition. Especially in beats and vocal delivery

I disagree with this, as far as bars go in general, and he's way more descriptive in storytelling and has more concepts. Don't act like Drake seeing him in technical rhyming either.

I swear this famous shyt just happened overnight
For sure these hoes was so uptight, but now they so polite
All I see is fake love, smiles and overbites
But I'm pimping, nikka: Dolemite
I remember when, I was like ten, maybe nine
Ricky had a deuce-deuce, two shotty pumps with a baby nine

Busta had the rhymes, Puffy had the Shyne
Bone Thugs had Mo Thugs but that was the shyt, that made me rhyme
What's up, what's on your mind? Hold up, I'm feeling fine
Locs got me blind, thugging like I'm Eazy-E up in his prime
Another young nikka with a attitude
I guess that's why the crackers kept me after school
Roaches on the wall, roaches on the dresser
Everybody had roaches, but our roaches ain't respect us

On the park bench playing checkers, sipping nectar
Girbaud jeans, with hologram straps and reflectors
We had cookouts, and dirt bikes and dice games and fistfights
And fish fries and shootouts like one Sig with two rounds
And one click left two down, that's four kids but one lived
Left three dead, but one split, that one miss, that one snitched
That's everyday shyt, shyt we used to that

Add it up, do the math with your stupid ass
Don't view me as no conscious cat, this ain't no conscious rap
fukk the conscious crap, my mac'll push your conscience back

I do this for my culture, penny, nickels in the sofa
Mommy watching Oprah, Daddy in the kitchen whipping soda
Cook-connect named Sosa, Spanish chick Viola hit it in the chocha
With the Testarossa, hit Daytona, fukk the law, we soldiers
I'm 'bout it 'bout it, nikka ain't shyt sweet about me
The baddest bytches on the block be even speaking 'bout me
I'm so thuggish ruggish bringing ruckus, knucking if you bucking
Young and thugging, bugging showing out in public, but you love it
:mjgrin:Because he's ass.

He's ass? Like these other NY new school sewer rat retards are bringing back what made the 00's or 90's so "classic"?

Name someone from his current NY generation besides Joey, who even rhymes this well in the 1st verse.

I thought I'd probably die in prison, expensive taste in women
Ain't had no pot to piss in, now my kitchen full of dishes
Nose bloody from that sniffin', your heroin addiction
Trigger finger itching fukk parental supervision

This be that murder business, little Timmy got that semi
I ain't kidding hide yo kittens, hit yo children with that Smith and
A bunch of ignant little niglets, hard headed, never listen
Purple sippin', finger twistin', teeth glisten like it's Memphis
A bunch of hypocritic Christians, the land of no religion
My Santa Claus was missing, catch you slippin' then it's Christmas
Motherfukk a wishlist, my ghetto was ambition

For my benjis and my Bentley, and them bytches now I gets gets
On the road to riches, a diamond ring, designer jeans
Choking on that biscuit till I'm no longer existing
I wonder if they miss me, as long as I make history
Now my soul is feeling empty, tell the reaper come and get me

Or this verse

Buccaneers of rugged gear, nikka fukk a fair
One, since year one, I've been thuggin' here, yeah
Whole shyt is ours, you in awe, please don't get involved
This is war, walk around a frame with blades up in this jaw
Behind prison walls, nikkas lickin' balls, pause
Different cause, stricted laws, damn if I don't break up in the mall
Prison yard, prison guard
, no principal, detention -
On your friends and all
, commissary missing, like your sibling's paw
Uncle Tom, please don't make my sentence long, granted -
What I did was wrong, pigs don't show remorse, if you admit it all
Missing ma, hope that she don't miss the call, admitted that
She'll never visit
,like the hard headed never listen, Lord
So, tell me how the fukk I'm supposed to eat?
If the richer's getting richer, the poor's growing weak

My brother died up in the streets, may he rest in peace
nikkas got heat, like Pusha T, get it cheap
Flacko how you been, where you at? I've been kickin' back
Relax, place down my favorite thinking cap, scratch my nikka neck

Hitta chit and chat, this and that, A$AP diplomats
I'm missing Max, wish that they could bring the nikka, Bigga back

That's how nikkas in NY rhymed in the 90's, but "he's ass" :mjlol::pachaha::dead::mindblown::camby:

Lil mama is the best NYC rapper the city didn't support

Also rocky and asap were trendy blog social media rap sensations before they blew up. There's no regions on the Internet.

NYC was late to the party and didn't understand or accept ASAP while most of the world was catching on and he just blew up fast from then on.

NYC was like "who's this guy" "Why's he dressing weird" and "what's the big deal about soho?"

Not to mention his sound wasn't that "boom bap" gangsta/punchline stuff NYC loves :manny:

organic? :russ:

This is what I'm talking about. To y'all, organic equals "release shytty music for years that no one but your immediate crew/block listens to. Do this until you get a major cosign from Jay-Z/Bey/Dre whoever."

But "plant" is "release one song on tumblr and let it go viral, and once that song shows real interest in your music/aesthetic, you sign a deal and release non-cosign dependent music."

shyt is weird to me. Young MA and Bobby didn't have the streets on fire until the right-on-time cosigns started pouring in.

People gonna kill you for that one :lolbron:

"Pesos"? "Lord Pretty Flocko Jodye 2"? "L$D"?

If it counts, "Long Live A$AP" as a song did break into Billboard Top 20. So given that, he does have solo hits, they just aren't in hundred millions of streams.

I ain't never heard blood on the radio besides fukkin problems

Nah, they weren't too weird, they just weren't outside. GS9 was weird to many people who weren't from Brooklyn. People who have never really been around Caribbean kids thought all the dancing was kinda effeminate. There were also some who thought they were leaning on the Chicago drill imagery too heavy. But once people found out they were really in the streets, they couldn't say anything.

That's the thing that people rush to Co sign people doing dirt, but can't make good music. That's everywhere and it's dragging the quality down. Dave East leans more towards making quality songs IMO.

Cause NY nikkas feel they are Gods gift to America. So even if you are from ny, if you don't come off like you from ny, then they ain't fukking with you

Look how they fukked with Nicki. Soon as she got on some weird shyt they don't even claim her. Asap too. Desiigner

Soon as you stop sounding like 1996, you done in NYC
