Baseball is unbearably long too, I think all leagues should look at the NFL and notice that's a good way to pattern your season.

Cut down on the games and make your games feel more significant.

shyt make the NBA season 26 games, and have them run Tuesday and Friday nights only. This way they never cross-over w/ football on Mondays/Sundays/Saturdays and you got 2 big nights of basketball being the main focus

sounds like you're talking out of your aass..

The NBA and MLB are extremely popular sports which has no reason to cut down on ticket revenue/tv reveenue/ jersey revenue just because you can't sit down and watch more than 3 games a week..

There are enough people like me who will pay the nba and mlb good money for league pass and the access to see 30 teams for 82 games and 30 teams for a 162 games, and as a result they will remain profitable..

the truth is you can't stand sports like the NBA and MLB where our African American and African Latino brothers showcase some of the greatest displays of Blackthleticism without having to risk permanent brain damage to entertain you :smugbiden:

Wouldnt it be funny if we ended up with an Indiana-San Antonio NBA Finals or something  Seriously I like the NBA,(mainly Knicks) but I have to admit, I hit snooze on the reg season. However media has to talk about something since Lebron got his ring, about to get his 4th MVP and possibly another ring. Drama sells......look at tv "Scandal" is the top show if im not mistaken.Nobody cares about anything non drama these days.Sad to say people rather storylines then anything else.People WANT a reason to watch.

Now you're trolling. The NFL season is too long as well.

16 games is too many

How many games do you think the NBA truly needs?

82 is far too many, if you cut it in half to 41, that could suffice I suppose.

16 games isn't too many at all when you consider the season legitimately covers one actually season. The NFL plays out through the Fall, 17 weeks of games, about 4 months then the post season.

NBA's regular season drags 6 fukking months, then the playoffs start which drag another 2 months. We're talking about 8 months of basketball.

like the other breh said, its ESPN, not the league. I made a post the other day how ESPN should be ashamed to have skip bayless on tv trolling. Its not even really sports discussions anymore and thats cus THEY find that other stuff entertaining. It really is disappointing when ive spent my whole life watching ESPN for hours each day and its come to this lame tebow stories or kobe/dwight beef constantly. You can go over that shyt but dont be dedicating WHOLE SHOWS and multiple shows to the same thing...Make an OTL about players beefing and shyt then leave it alone and im good with that :yeshrug:

You can blame it on E!spn all you want, but even on here there is a complete obsession with the Lakers failure and the Dwight situation.

Is it though, what's the ticket revenue look like for the Minnesota T-Wolves and the Washington Wizards.

Weren't their teams giving out tix if you buy 2 cans of beans from a grocery store last year?

The NBA is a top heavy league, the majority of the league isn't doing well. You could extract about 10 teams and no one would care or notice.

MLB is fine it has the least amount of teams that make the playoffs..teams that havent clinched a playoff spot till the last game of the seaosn have won the world series

Baseball pennant races have provided some of the bets most dramatic moments in sports history moreso the any other sports regular season games

The NBA sucks for a number of reason

Lack of parity....only 8 different teams have won the NBA championship since 1984. Same time frame the NFL has 14 different winners and MLB has had 18 different winners.

Over half the league makes the playoffs.

The league is fixed, don't care what anyone says to me, after those Kings/Lakers series and Tim Donaghy saying refs fixed games and it came from the league I could never take the league serious again, how the Kings got robbed was proof enough.

No legit rivalries anymore, only reason KG and the Melo thing was a big deal is because everyone is buddy buddy now. Even Kobe said players don't trash talk anymore.

The season doesn't matter at all. You can say MLB is too long but with the few playoffs spots available how many times have we seen the season go down to last day. As a Mets fan I've seen it 4 times in a 10 year span. The NFL while this season isn't the best example how many times do playoff births and seeding go down to the last week of the season. The NHL, the last few seeds actually do make a difference. Last years Stanley Cup finals were between the 6th and 8th seed, when is the last time you saw that in the NBA.

It's still way too fukking long.

i think thats more because the laker "stans" were so hype at the beginning of the season and theyve failed so miserably...so after hearing all the shyt talking on here before the season, now ppl are comin back at them. and those stories being constantly on ESPN obviously feed into whats talked about on this board, how can u not see that? i dont think youre trying to see whats really happening, u just dont like basketball/nba cus there are other things going on this season that are great to watch, ie Lebron James going crazy on the court for the first half

plus with the trade deadline right around the corner this is going to be a huge story regardless of anything

I actually don't dislike the game of basketball. I do not like the format though.

When the playoffs come around i`ll watch, because those are meaningful games.

That's what even makes the reg season even more meaningless, that in the playoffs you're not one and done so the seeding aint even that important, you get 7 games to potentially move on so the playoffs is like a mini-season anyway. It truly is a post-season

Basketball is a superstar driven sport. You give a superstar and good supporting cast and there's a good chance he can beat any other team that doesn't have the same.

You best player is on the floor on both sides of the ball for 36-40 minutes. There's no other sport that can claim the same.

And that's a good thing because ??? So basically a team that may not have a star but a good team basically doesn't have a chance ? What's the point of watching ?
