In fact think of the superstar players that have won since '84:

Magic
Kareem
Isiah
Duncan
Jordan
Bryant
Bird
Shaq
Hakeem
Bron
Dirk
Wade

Those are all HOF players. They aren't likely to lose unless they are up against each other.

The only championship team that wasn't superstar backed in the last 30 years was that '04 Pistons team IMO.

And that's a good thing because ??? So basically a team that may not have a star but a good team basically doesn't have a chance ? What's the point of watching ?

I didn't say it was a good thing. I'm just explaining that its the nature of the sport.

I actually don't dislike the game of basketball. I do not like the format though.

When the playoffs come around i`ll watch, because those are meaningful games.

That's what even makes the reg season even more meaningless, that in the playoffs you're not one and done so the seeding aint even that important, you get 7 games to potentially move on so the playoffs is like a mini-season anyway. It truly is a post-season

...ive heard these arguments, ive even heard this argument made for why games should be shorter...some dude telling me, "if it comes down to the last 4/5 posessions to be a good game why play 48 mins if theyre scoring almost everytime down the court.."

i probly wouldnt care if they took the 1st round out of the playoffs NOW. but thats just because of how the league is so top heavy at the moment. i dont see the problem with the regular season tho, u play each team 2/3 times and its not a contact sport like football so players arent getting injured like that..if u like basketball i cant see why you would want less games:yeshrug:

How many games do you think the NBA truly needs?

82 is far too many, if you cut it in half to 41, that could suffice I suppose.

16 games isn't too many at all when you consider the season legitimately covers one actually season. The NFL plays out through the Fall, 17 weeks of games, about 4 months then the post season.

NBA's regular season drags 6 fukking months, then the playoffs start which drag another 2 months. We're talking about 8 months of basketball.

Let me preface this by saying that if you're a big fan of a sport, more than likey you can watch it year round...

I think if you packaged the NBA down to 50-56 games and began the season in December, plus make the first round of the playoffs the best out of 5, and contract 4 teams(Bobcats, Raptors, Grizzlies, etc) you can probably market it a whole lot better.

I also think starting the NBA season after football wouldn't be a bad idea either, because the first few months it starts in the heart of football season. Then when football ends you got this period, where it's clear as hell who are the best few teams and you're just waiting around for the playoffs.

so the season would be more intersting if 2/3rd of the teams were out of contention after 25-30 games? :troll:

look at baseball, with theri so called selectivity in how many teams make the playoffs, and how they're trying to spice up their game by adding extra teams to the playoffs..

That's not why baseball added the extra wild card.

They wanted to automatically recreate game 163 every year and also basically punish the Yankees /Red Sox since the teams didn't give much of a damn who won the division as long as they got in, which made for crappy baseball down the stretch. They didn't create it to get different teams in. They've done a helluva job of that on their own.

That's Revis though. That's a big story no matter what team he's on. He could be on the Panthers and that would be a big deal because of who it is.

The Jets being a circus would have been a story regardless of where it was. The team being in NY only magnified the situation, but a team acting a fool, promising to deliver a Super Bowl only to watch their rivals go at it for the VLT would be a story anywhere. The Jets get attention because they seek it, not because they're the Jets. When the Jets go 4-12 next year, aside from the storyline of going from the AFC Title Game to home blackouts in 3 years, they'll be irrelevant, at least nationally, if not locally as well.

NY magnified Revis' greatness and the Jets dysfunction.

If this all took place in Cleveland, OH you can bet Revis wouldn't be the star he is and the Jets would not get the coverage they do

Because the Lakers being bad is the #1 story of the season.

You can't go 3 days without somebody talking about Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant not being friendly with each other, it's more of a soap opera than pro wrestling.

A personal squabble is the headline of the season.

imma NFL head 1st & foremost
fukk outta here with ur bullshyt -tebow was still the biggest story of the year & he didn't get more then 3 snaps a game on a losing team

STOP hating on the nba

Is it though, what's the ticket revenue look like for the Minnesota T-Wolves and the Washington Wizards.

Weren't their teams giving out tix if you buy 2 cans of beans from a grocery store last year?

The NBA is a top heavy league, the majority of the league isn't doing well. You could extract about 10 teams and no one would care or notice.

This year it's beans. Last year it was corn. Get it right :hmm:

Keep getting your shyt incorrect you'll have to order your Tropicana with no pulp no T'wolves tickets
