I agree that they're more popular, you could make a whole thread arguing why that is. All I know is that popularity doesn't translate to any kind of tangible success. People are not going to remember Lil Yachty when they think of our generation. Same way Slikk The Shocker isn't the spokesman for your generation. If you're mad that you have to search ion know what to tell you. It's the internet age, you can't have your cake and eat it too.
You cant compare the two. Silkk only got on becuz of who his brother was. And he only had success due to what label he was on. The majority of us knew he was wack back then.

I fail to see what's so different. Slikk got on cause of reasons outside of music, just like how Yachty got on because his father was friends with Coach K, and because of his image (red braids). The majority of us know Lil Yachty is wack now. There are like 5 people on this site who are actually fans of Yachty's music. Yall stay conveniently ignoring the fact that the biggest genre of music out is going to have casual fans who dikkride trends. Loyal fanbases buy music, and none of these dudes have strong album sales because their fanbases are made up of casual fans who only play their music on snapchat or at parties.

What about that performance do you consider "buffoonish"?

The content of the song...or the fact that they were extra animated on stage? :jbhmm:

What's your thoughts on performing a song with this type of content infront of a all white crowd?

Both really

Completely different, It's a Man's World is comedic/satirical, I expect a mostly white audience in what I am assuming is in the Netherlands.

Y'all make the same threads every gotdamn day :mindblown:
How can y'all understand how to use the internet, but not understand the effects of the internet age on music? Mfs steady complaining about rap is trash, but the only things you quote to support that claim is the radio and the XXL freshman list. It's fukking 2016, everybody with a laptop can make music. If you want to find lyricists and shyt you have to do a little more than open up a magazine and expect the greatest rappers of this generation to be spoon fed to you.
Even that is a half truth, Kendrick sold 320k his first week with TPAB. Young Thug did less than 30k with Barter 6. Even Future the biggest trap rapper made less sales than Cole and Kendrick with DS2, so miss me with that, real rap isn't promoted bullshyt. Y'all wanna hear dope rappers but put forth zero effort towards finding them.

That used to be the standard for hip hop. If you weren't that, you weren't hip hop.

Y'all kids cal it whatever you want to make y'all self feel better. Y'all like garbage. It is what it is:yeshrug:

sorry for remembering when rappers
had a vocabulary.
sorry for remembering when rappers
had to be original.
sorry for remembering when rap had
a soul to it.
sorry for remembering substance.
sorry that i cant get with the dainty
fakkit era of this generation.

Remember, this is the reincarnation of SOHH. A lot of us been posting on this board for 10-15 years :flabbynsick:. So you gotta understand that within that time hip-hop has changed so much that us :flabbynsick: brothers are allowed to be disgusted. I don't condone the making a thread to say somebody is trash shyt... but tell us how you feel... it's the goddamn internet.

There are other message boards in the world you can go to and troll away and dikkride trash. I listen to the new shyt too though so it's not like I'm hating, but quality is quality, and it's few and far between more and more as time goes on.

SIDENOTE: It's crazy that I was on this board in high school before even ETHER dropped. :flabbynsick:
I'm happy to see all the old heads barking nowdays... cause a lot of people "grow out" of hip-hop smh.

Yeah...and stepin fetchit was just lighthearted comedy/satire as well right? :heh:

Performing lines like..."stop fukking t-bone for welfare" & "i aint the nikka to look at when your hair get nappy, so take a piece of the pole and be happy" Infront of an all-white audience isn't "buffoonish" behavior in your mind...but a guy rapping about "flexing" but doing so in a animated & energetic fashion IS? :jbhmm:

Basically.

You can tell who just shrugs it off and is like 'its not for me' when it comes to newer artists or the ones who purposely seek out certain artists, ignoring others, so that way they can re-affirm how Hip Hop they are because Kodak Black isn't as nice as Notorious BIG.

It's like saying the NBA is 100% trash right now compared to the Jordan era because, you know, Jabari Parker.
It makes no sense. These dudes literally go out of their way to listen to something they know they won't like :mindblown:

When I started listening to hiphop the older brehs were hating on the new rappers, golden age was the shyt, everything was better blah blah

Never understood how people treat something creative (music) with such a narrow-minded approach and aversion to change

Why does anyone spend time on discussing things that they hate?
