theres literally not a wrong way to go about this
u can be like the young bucks and not immediately sign with the wwe because you want to make a big enough name on the indy scene to gain bargaining power when negotiating your contract
or u can jump at the first thing wwe offers u and sign a not so lucrative deal in the present moment with room for huge growth in the future thus eventually making way more than you wouldve had you stayed in the indys, different strokes for different folks(pause), everybody cant be as big of an indy sensation as the young bucks and hold off signing for years upon years

You can't just assume there's light at the end of the tunnel either. Many of these guys will not make enough to retire comfortably just off their WWE salary alone. Many won't go higher than NXT or if they make the main roster will fizzle out quickly or never have a sustained push.

And it's not like they don't have basically four brandsI bet cats dont wanna discuss that Bull Dempsey guy.... wasnt he kinda getting some shine in NXT? Whatever happened to him?
I remember all the hype when it was announced Uhaa Nation was coming to NXT and effectively the WWE. People were soooooo happy and the thought was he was gonna be the next great black wrestler in the E since Lashley. Then he went to the Main Roster and became an after thought

Nxt
Smackdown
Raw
205
Plus ppvs
Yet they have an abundance of talent and few of any are draws. Potentially endless great match ups and indie/homegrown talent out the ass yet they still don't have enough time. Nearly 8 or so hours weekly of time for talent and they still don't have enough time for talent
Plus even when they do give them time.... they dont do anything creative for them.
Like how they do tag teams its an embarrassment and old.
Like its wack how they start a feud, then have them tag in a match then the following week they tag against even other again but add a 3rd person so its a 3 team tag, the the next week they face off but in singles with one guy with the other, then the following week the other guys wrestles a single, then finally they get a ppv match. Then they following week they have another tag team match against each other. Then the next week they do the thing were one wrestles in a jobber match to squash someone while the other is on commentary duty. Then the next week switch. Then a 4 man tag team against each other, then a week where on the same show both teams face each other in singles. Then ultimately a gimmick tag match.
Just no creativity

And this is pathetic. The WWE is the team that goes 14-2 every year with a first round bye, only to lose right after. All the talent and resources in the world, and they can't get out of their own way. But they'll spam advertising as if they're not hurting are anything at all.
They're completely wasting Chris Hero. He was stealing the show on the indies and now he barely shows up on NXT. He's getting closer to 40 so they need to push him while he's still on a roll. How many of these talented names were on smackdown or raw twice in a row this month?
