The positive spirit and vibe of the example i posted should make you ask yourself(assuming you are black): why isnt more uplifting, motivational music played on mainstream radio? Why does only songs about black men killing other black men, blacks selling dope to other blacks, black men degrading black women, materialism and promiscuity get promoted and pushed to the masses? Why does songs that promote self-esteem and black empowerment have to be "found" and "looked for"? And by thdd way i listen to it all. Im not above anything. I just realize that prolonged exposure to mind numbing rap has an effect on ones' mind and spirit in a negative way. Do u ever wonder why only music with destructive, negative messages are given the biggest platform to shine and to be taken in by the minds of the black youth? And its clearly TARGETED to the black youth. Like really, do u EVER ask yourself these questions or do u not really care?

:heh:

First and foremost, you're thinking too much about this.

Secondly, if the first thing that pops into your head after reading that is " and just what is wrong with thinking?"... you've already lost the battle.

Thirdly, you're asking the wrong questions

Ask yourself the following:

- Why does uplifting and motivational music have to fit firmly into your understanding of what is uplifting and motivational?

Maybe a nikka needs to listen to some YG to get himself thru the day at work.

- Why do you feel entertainers are responsible for raising people and instilling qualities in them?

- Why do you refuse to acknowledge that certain music, simply just isn't for you? and that the radio isn't just for you and people who think like you?

J Cole has the biggest album this year in hip hop, Kendrick Lamar has the official song for the NBA this season... and those two fit right into your positive/uplifting rapper mold.

But better yet, ask yourself... why does the music YOU want others to hear, take precedence over what anyone else wants to hear?

It's been verified that a guy killed two cops while listening to a Tupac album. Allegedly it was his motivation for doing it. How many people have been murdered to Love Sosa?

Dude u are like totally making my case. All of those "positive" rap albums most ppl never heard of.
Breh, the top 3 rappers in this generation are "positive". Drake is an introspective, braggadocios relationship rapper who mostly raps about his success, work ethic and relationships with friends, females and family. He actually started as a semi-conscious MC making songs such as the one below talking about growing up mixraced in Toronto and being called the n-word by classmates.

The second most popular MC, Kendrick Lamar is a self proclaimed good kid in a mad city who raps about inner city struggles in Compton from the perspective of the "project window". Lamar raps about loving one self, dangers of alcohol and drugs on communities, danger of gang violence, downtrodden women among other thing. His song "i" is the theme song for the NBA and several films. In the song below Kendrick expresses his anti-drug views.

The third most popular MC is college educated the majority of his subject matter revolves around female relationships and his rise in the rap game, and brag rhymes about his talent with wordly topics sprinkled in. Dude has songs about loving one self and being appreciative of everything we have, senseless violence, racism in the United States and the music industry, etc. The song below is about abortion.

Those are the three highest selling rappers so people heard their albums. The biggest artist of the decade is Kanye West. :dahell:

Then you have the Lupe Fiasco's, Wale's, Logic's, Big K.R.I.T.'s. Nas and Big Boi two of the greatest ever have critically acclaimed albums in this decade with grown man subjects, Killer Mike another veterans been pushing positive rap.

are these not components of the machine?

The owners of the record companies used one asset (music) to fund the other asset (prisons) by influencing the audience of the first into participating on the second. Its basic economics on why these companies push that shyt to blackfolk.

That's what I was saying in my post. It's one giant machine with many different parts and components. I'm aware that the people that run the entertainment industry also fund the military industrial complex. it's all connected. that was my entire point.

We should also be :stylin:that Bobby SchMURDA is a 1-hit wonder. Now we need the ending to Young Thug's career to happen soon. If u dont know why then u are really blind to what the powers that be are doing to the black community thru destructive poisonous rap. And no, im not saying they are the CAUSE of our problems so dont come in here with that.:camby: As a black man you should celebrate the downfall of every puppet rapper being used to numb the black youth's minds

It's amazing how recent events and time have led to a shift in our psyche concerning trash rap..10 years ago saying what you just did would have got you shouted out and kicked out of hip hop. Going against the popular negative grain in rap was always taboo..but people have had enough of the bullshyt..theres only some much trash we can be forced to consume.

you serious? you dont know of ANY positive rappers? :what:

Kendrick is one of, if not the biggest rapper out right now. :wtf:
JCole is currently pwning record sales. :wtf:

Kendrick's music is about his life growing up in one of the worst inner cities in America. While he might do it artfully and insightfully, that's not positive to me. That's another hood album from a very dark place (not his fault).

Cole's album I haven't listened to yet but I saw his performance on Letterman and it wasn't for me. i will give the whole album a listen but still, just 2?

Why do u not care that only negative, violent rap is given the biggest platform while most of the positive, uplifting music isn't allowed to be heard by the black youth? Thats my point tho. There is no good music on the radio. U dont find that unsettling?
Who the fukk is still relying on the radio for good music? :mindblown::russ: no sympathy for you.

So whom exactly is making uplifting and positive music? No one is producing it anymore, thats why its not on the radio.

Once again, this is exactly what im saying. Do u not ever ask yourself WHY? Why is 90% of every song on urban radio poisonous, negative trash? Songs like Dej Loaf rapping lines like "i hate nikkas....ima Nazi". T.I rapping "no murder, no dough, no convo (if it aint about the money)". LOTS of ppl listen to the radio and these are the messages they are taking in. Why does it have to be mostly negative? Why doesnt the good music get the same opportunity to be heard by a bigger audience as the songs about black men killing black men and selling dope in the hood?
:mindblown: the best music isn't even on the radio.
