STOP IT.

He was looked at as a very good player and a great shooter.

But he was a FRINGE top ten player at best.

He didn't TRULY break through until last year.

Nope. Curry broke out December of '13 where he averaged 24/7 on elite efficiency (including 46% from three) since. Then he went on to raise his level of play in the postseason, like superstars are known to do, until his ankle got busted in the 2nd round. Warriors offense went from top ten to worst in the league without him on the court in the RS, and dropped to an even greater degree in the postseason. He's been one of the more impactful offensive players in the game for a while now.

In '14 Curry was a top 5 player in the game and you'd have a hard time convincing me otherwise. Only guys clearly superior were James & Durant. Paul & WB have their arguments, but Curry outperformed and was much more impactful than both in the RS. Not Howard, Love, Griffin, Aldridge, fukking Noah who placed FIFTH in MVP voting that season, Wall, George, Wade, Melo or Harden. Even if you wanted to argue a few ahead of him here, there is zero chance that you'd come up with enough arguments to where he'd be pushed to "fridge". He's a lock.

back then he was one of the most underrated players in the league. People didn't catch on to how great he was until the Warriors got better support around him and the team started to win consistently and its really that simple. The base of Curry's greatness (unprecedented off the dribble shooting) has been there for a long time.

but who says this? AI is a legend but he will get criticized to death when he's compared to guys who make his flaws much more noticeable. Like Wade and Curry

Except Iverson did not dominate the league for a long period of time. At no point was he remotely close to being the best player in the association despite what that MVP will tell you and he only has a handful of seasons that can be considered for top 5 ('01, '05, '06).

Curry has been a superstar since 2013. He has had great, top 5 caliber seasons before the current and while not on the level of play he's reached this season where he's become the clear best player in the league, 65 games regardless is a huge sample size. Iverson has never, ever had a stretch like this before and he has never had a season that can be considered "one of the best ever". Thats a phrase you only save for the guys up there with the pantheon of all time greats.

Defenses are already really going after him man, they've been trapping him behind the line, running him through screens and death gripping off ball for years now. He's just so good that you never truly notice how retardly difficult the shots he takes are until his has an off night.

nikka Curry just got top 10 recognition last year:what:

Stop lying:beli:

He's been top ten since '13. If that wasn't widely acknowledged, then he was underrated. He didn't get so much better last year that he randomly jumped from not top ten to arguable best in the game.

Nah they hate ai for whatever reason. I don't see that shyt nowhere else but here

This debate has happened 100000 times on every big basketball board over the years. RealGM, ABR, Clutch Fans, Inside Hoops, the shytty Reddit boards, and I bet even the Chinese site that I used to get ESPN Insider articles from. And it's not that people hate Iverson but more so the ridiculous narratives that he carried the 01 Sixers and that he's really at "that" level when he clearly never was. And this has been going on LONG before the "stats" revolution too. I dont know how you missed it

I think nba basketball may have the worst fan opinions of any sport I follow seriously

Is
It absolutely does. The last few ESPN/be like Mike campaign raised fans are conditioned to hang on to only the highlights they want to remember and to ignore all the important details and to always ignore that it's a 5 on 5 team sport with many working parts to it.

Yeah AI is second to only to Michael Jordan in playoff scoring per game but he ain't a better scorer than Steph :mjlol:

I've reached the point where I just think many of you guys aren't very bright.

A.I's scoring isn't a testament to his skill level but rather him taking more shots.

I loved A.I but there are plenty of players you could haven't given 29-30 shots per game and they would have just as easily averaged 30-32 points.
