The idea of Fitz being benched is absurd. They're not gonna pay the guy 12 mil to bench him in week 2.

He's gonna play unless he gets hurt or the Jets get eliminated from playoff contention, then Petty will get some reps.
The seahawks paid matt Flynn a bunch of money just to bench him in favor of Wilson.

Seems to have worked out for them.

Who asked to bench Fitz in week 2? :dahell:

Like you, we all know they've married themselves to that $12 million you speak of. We just don't like living in this existance of wasting obvious time with him at qb

Petty and Geno aren't as good as Wilson. They see these guys in practice. I don't. They clearly think Fitz gives them the best chance to win games, which is the whole reason they brought him back.

Nobody knew how good Wilson would be when he got the job. Comparing what he is now to an unproven guy like petty is asinine and not my point.

My point was that just because we are paying fitz doesn't mean he should be above benching. He hasn't earned anything in this league other than stealing money.

And for all we know woody forced the issue to resign fitz. The front office seemed to be in no hurry to bring him back and not 1 single other team wanted him. None of us know what's going behind the scenes.

Coaching staff saw Flynn and Wilson in practice too and still handed Flynn the job until Wilson decimated Flynn in preseason. Lesson: coaching staff are wrong all the time about player personell, especially defensive coaches as pertains offensive players. This fact factors into why so many coaches are fired every year.

Bowles is a young inexperienced first time coach. Macc is a first time gm.

What "conspiracy" are you referring to?

Head coaches and gms are wrong all the time.

Bad choice of words on my part. I guess I meant that it gets tiresome hearing people say that if Geno or Petty were in, with all these weapons, we'd be better. (Mostly Geno since we don't have any idea what Petty can do)

The fact is this, if Geno were playing at a high level in training camp, do you honestly think that we would've thrown 12 million at Fitz' mediocre ass? The staff obviously felt like he gives us the best chance to win. You just gotta believe in them fam. One thing I think we can all agree on is this.. Bowles isn't trying to lose on purpose.

Get tired of what no one said in this thread, brehs.

Ever noticed that it's thsee guys who make that up turn "we don't know what Geno/Petty can do with these weapons" statements into "we'd be better if we played Geno/petty." Then they double down and get tired of the thing invented in the heads.

Remarkable

Can you point out these posts?

Because you guys keep saying this over and over yet I've never seen anyone say that. All anyone's said is we would like to see questions answered regarding those two and nothing more.

Sorry but when a guy has a 7-35 record against .500 or better teams he doesn't give you the best chance to win in comparison to going with an unknown quantity who may sink or swim.

Bowles is making a mistake.

Everyone thought Wilson would be good. The only knock on him was his height. If he was 6'3", he would have been drafted #1 OVR.

The FO says one thing and does another, which is to be expected. They say they're comfortable with Geno but spend a 2nd rounder on a QB and 12M on a journeyman QB. They don't want Geno to start. It's pretty obvious.

Petty.... he hurt his shoulder, so who knows where he's at physically. He looked the best out of all the QBs in preseason but it was mostly against second stringers. They are not going to bench Fitz for Petty while the Jets are still alive for the playoffs and it's foolish to think so.

Everyone thought he would be good qbs don't get drafted in the 3rd round. How do you say that then announce his knock which was the reason why they thought he WOULDN'T be good? :mindblown:

When they're built like WRs they are.

His problems were measurables, not skills. Skill wise he was the best QB in the draft in 2012. If he was 6'4", 235 instead of 5'11", 205 he would have been drafted #1.

We know what his problems were. But it's the reason they didn't think he would be good. You're going against your own "everyone knew he would be good" point. :krs: everybody Knew he was going to be good qbs get drafted in the first round.

What am I saying wrong here?

But you know damn well that the kid could play but there's no room in the NFL for sub 6' QBs because GMs are obsessed with the prototypical measurables. Anyone watching him at NC State or Wisconsin could see the kid could play.

This is time Otis Redding, sitting at the dock of the bay wasting time, quarterbacking.

How do you overcome a qb who puts the rest of the team under pressure for the team to succeed?
