You are incorrect on so many levels.
First off, you don't "have" to do anything. If you want to stay stuck in the 90s then go ahead. Nobody is forcing you to like new music. But at the same time, you can't say that there is no good hip hop out there, when you don't even know what's out here.

The 2nd thing you are wrong about is when you said "it is all commercial fluff" that's total bullshyt. My iPod is filled up with a gang of rap that isn't commercial and they don't play on the radio.

A finally if you are relying on requests on the radio to play the kind of music that you want, then you already lost. And you don't need 4-6 hrs a day to search for new music fam, you overexagerrating like crazy on that 1

And this is why I stopped messing with rap all together. The fans are delusional. You MAY have time to do that... I don't. Just admit you like hip-hop that these new silly nighas make and keep it moving. Even spending more than an hour is too much time. But if you got free time like that... go ahead, friend.

I listen to plenty of new music... and only.... 3% of it is hip-hop. You silly nigghas keep listening to rap all the time if you want to...

I know your type.... you listen to every genre to sound and look diverse and well-rounded but there's only one type of music that you feel truly comfortably speaking on the most.

And it ain't country or gospel music. :sas2:

There were some good projects out this year. To me these guys put together good albums
and not just singles. But i guess it depends on what you're looking for..

The problem for me is that are just way too much music to dig through. I'm a young head, so its not an age thing for me, I just can't keep up because everything is moving too fast you know? Sometimes I'll go to audiomack for example and try to find some good new shyt, but you have to go through like 100 songs that dropped today and then the 250 that dropped yesterday.....fukk that shyt lol Livemixtapes been ASS for min. All you mostly see is tapes by a trap/drill rappers holding guns on the covers. Lil Smoke with his "I Put In Work" and Money bang bytches with his ole "I'ma Stay Rich" Vol.7s...No quality.

Theres not many new rappers that I have become a fan of recently. Last new albums I enjoyed this year was YG's, Cunninlyguists and Gibbs. Other than that I just been listening to older shyt and other genres. That doesn't mean I'm gonna throw hip-hop in the bushes, but I guess I'll have to go back to digging and see if I find anything new that stands out.

i listen to many different genre of music because i was grew up listenin' to all types of music. that's all i knew :yeshrug:

my dad's musical favorites are anyone from james brown to the beatles to curtis mayfield, stevie wonder to bob dylan, spandau ballet to patti labelle to the o'jays to genesis to the whispers, to elvis presley to al green to david bowie, santana, fleetwood mac, to bob marley to elton john, and the list goes on and on.

mom, the same way. aretha franklin to the supremes to marvin gaye to mary wells, barry white and love unlimited, issac hayes, sam and dave, sly and the family stone, minnie riperton, kool and the gang, rufus featuring chaka khan, queen, mahalia jackson to smokey robinson, to luther vandross to rose royce etc

plus, i have an older sister who has always been into music as well

so my appreciation for diversity and a wide range of music comes from hearin' music early on and always knowin' that music comes in different sounds, forms and plateaus

Simple. Younger generations for the most part were raised better financially but not morally
For the most part you get emo music like Drake or violent music like 3Hunid mainstream wise

Having talent means at most you'll be in a pool of writers cause you don't have the star appeal
KDot going plat was amazing. He'll never do that again like Lupe first 2 went gold and he ain't moved units like that since
A&Rs along with the era Nas/Stoute ushered in along with Puff really hurt the genre

I feel you should elaborate on your thoughts.
You know, for the most part rap is filled with songs about moving dope, selling dope, fukking hoes, stacking millions, don't snitch, smoking weed, dissing, being turnt up.. Etc...

I still like it, just in small doses.
