Nah bruh, Rap is really better than ever, and as it gets harder and harder to make money from being a rapper the quality of music is going to go up. Once it gets to the point where you can no longer get rich quick rapping, the only people left are going to be the people that make music for the sake of making good music. Plus, there's some incredible music being made already, YG just dropped a classic album that honestly trumps a lot of the old West Coast Classics, Kendrick did the same damn thing a year ago, Kanye is really making some incredibly creative shyt, Travis Scott is following in his footsteps, lyricism is more popular than ever guys like Danny Brown, Action Bronson and Earl Sweatshirt are really out here prospering. Beats are being taken to a whole new level with modern technology, a lot of creative shyt that no one really thought to blend together or create is coming from producers, shyt is highkey kind of :obama: right now

You're seriously tripping if you don't think that album is incredible, give it a chance bruh, I was very biased towards it at first because I hated DJ Mustard so much, but the hype behind that album is real as fukk, its amazing from start to finish, every single song is dope

For example, Drake 'Started From The Bottom' is actually a catchier song than Jadakiss "We Gon Make It" but We Gon Make It reminds me of smoking blunts in High School ditching class so it holds more weight.

No. Jada and P killed "We Gon Make it" and nikkas are still quoting the song YEARS after it came out on this very forum. My bathtub liff up my walls do a 360.

There is still a ton of great hip hip out there. You just have to know where it is. Just ask the homie @hustlemania . There is so much untapped rap music out there. But the average fan simply doesn't care to do a little bit of research.

Why as a fan do I have to do that? That's why people don't care for music like that like they used to... once upon a time ago, records like "Keep Ya Head Up", "Sky's The Limit", "Elevators", music about the struggle yet all different styles were on the radio to go with the pop/commercial music. Now... it's ALL commercial fluff. And once you get past college, most people are working 9-5s or even longer depending on your career. No one has time to sit there for 4-6 hours and just search for music. On the other hand, you could sit there and request "real" hip-hop on stations all day but would they ever play it? Maybe ONCE a day, twice max. I shouldn't have to search that hard... hence why most people in general just go back to the music they know after a certain age. Searching for new music is just too time consuming. And if you have to listen to the radio... don't be surprised by what's on it.

You are incorrect on so many levels.
First off, you don't "have" to do anything. If you want to stay stuck in the 90s then go ahead. Nobody is forcing you to like new music. But at the same time, you can't say that there is no good hip hop out there, when you don't even know what's out here.

The 2nd thing you are wrong about is when you said "it is all commercial fluff" that's total bullshyt. My iPod is filled up with a gang of rap that isn't commercial and they don't play on the radio.

A finally if you are relying on requests on the radio to play the kind of music that you want, then you already lost. And you don't need 4-6 hrs a day to search for new music fam, you overexagerrating like crazy on that 1

ok ok i gotta get back at you.

are you really gonna deny its not you just growing up and not having any childhood nostalgic feelings to newer shyt or are you really tryna say todays music "dont got that bump like it used to'' or whatever.

to say hip hop has been wack since 97 is outrageous.

do you even bump underground, or do you like your music on the radio?

lemme tell you somethin' man... i've listened to it all for the most part. just bout any kind of hip hop an rap you can name or think of, i've heard it

hip hop and rap music on a whole as a movement for the last 17 years has been horrible. that's not to say there hasn't been any good albums here or there but the overall movement is not as prolific as it use to be

sure, i've enjoyed some releases over the past 17 years like everythin' from that underground to the mainstream but the average of what's good to great now pales in comparison to what was great in the late 80's to mid 90's. it's like night and day

oh and i'm sure a lot of it is me gettin' older and not havin' any connection to it. but then too, good or great music is just that, great music and the majority of what's been released these past 17 years ain't it :camby:
