I'd pick Nash. Kidd may have been a more complete player but gimme prime Nash.
All this talk about the Nets making 2 finals is fugazi considering how weak the east was. They had great defenses but Kidd couldn't lead them to be more than an average (maybe even below average) offense. They were also limited at defending bigs (they had a rotation of Martin, Collins & McCullough/Mutombo) and were helped by facing mediocre bigs in the east. During the 2002 playoffs, these are the bigs they faced: young Jermaine O'Neal/Brad Miller (Pacers), PJ Brown/Elden Campbell (Hornets) & Tony Battie

(Celtics)
In 2003, their first round opponents the Bucks had a rotation of Tragic Johnson/36yo Anthony Mason/Joel Przybilla

The Celts had a center rotation of Tony Battie & Mark Blount

The Pistons had Ben Wallace (

on offense), rookie Okur & old ass Cliff Robinson
They were torched in the finals by Shaq/Duncan (as most teams were tbf). I had no doubt if they faced the bigs the west had, they wouldn't make it past the 1st round.
