Well, Shields is gonna hit Free Agency. I doubt he comes back here, as TT won't overpay, and someone else surely will. Sucks, cause he was really good for us.

Oh well, good luck to him.

I'm getting more and more irked with TT and letting talented guys just leave GB. I am getting tired of seeing more and more inexperienced players in the secondary and one of the few young players we have seen grow and be successful is just going to leave for nothing.

Shields was our best CB last season and is the fastest on the team. Hayward and House aren't outside guys and can't recover as well as Shields. It reminds me of how Nick Collins would use his speed to go side to side and make huge plays from the safety position.

Shields wants $7 million a year and TT is offering around $5.5 million a year. We have $35 million in cap room... Tramon expires next year. It's very frustrating.

Raji back :beli:

Edit: the journal sentinel is reporting that it's a one year deal worth $4mil :russ: god damn this fool lost turning down $8mil per year. Not a bad signing at all.

This nikka man :russ:
The Packers had offered Raji the options of one- and two-year contracts, the Journal Sentinel learned. For one year, their offer was for about $4 million.

The Journal Sentinel reported that Raji last season turned down a long-term offer averaging $8 million. That offer contained about $20 million in guaranteed money.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported today that Raji was close to a one-year deal with Green Bay.

After Raji's contract season turned sour in 2013, the Packers pulled their offer and determined to let Raji test his market value. His agent, David Dunn, has been able to do that for weeks.

41st was the worsest turf on the earth...
I'm hearing Raji's deal could be as much as $6.5 with incentives but still....I hope that nikka fired the fukk outta his agent. :damn:

The likely Shields lost really pisses me off. Secondary will be a MAJOR weakness for us next year. I wouldn't be shocked to see us break the points scored against record next season.

I think I speak for all of us when I say: Thank. GOD.

Damn near $10m/yr is kind of high, but of course we'll have to see the numbers, as NFL contracts aren't always what they seem. Doesn't hurt that we have plenty of cash to spend either. And we really NEEDED to keep Shields. :whew:

The Packers and cornerback Sam Shields have reached a four-year, $39 million contract, a league source told PFT’s Mike Florio on Saturday.

Shields will receive a $12.5 million signing bonus, and his 2014 compensation is $15 million. By the second season, Shields is slated to have made $21 million, and the deal is worth $30 million through 2016.

When I saw him tweet this earlier:

Thought he was gone :whew:

Perfectly good deal for us. Shields is ascending and entering the prime of his career. As long as he's healthy, that speed will be there for years to come. He's only played CB for 5 years including college.

Also, Tramon's $9 million cap number comes off the books next year.

Seen a lot of people saying the Packers overpaid and this now skews the market, but in actually watching Shields play — he's worth every penny. And we have money to spend. And Tramon is off the books next, like you said.

I like the deal :myman:

Seeing him lockup AJ Green earlier in the year convinced me we need to do whatever to keep him

That A.J. Green game was when I first really saw him as a shutdown corner and I think the league took notice then, too.

:wow: at a guy who can lock down No. 1s and also run a 4.35ish 40
