It's not about counting a 19 year old's money. It's about common sense even if you have guided your child all his life, you have to let him/her become an adult and start to make decisions that's best for him or her it doesn't mean you stop being a parent. People aren't counting Lonzo's money especially if people want him to get the best deal possible as an UNPROVEN PROFESSIONAL basketball player.

Secondly, he brings the "co-branding" example of Jordan. Jordan had already a pedigree of being the best professional basketball player to become a partner with Nike. Lonzo or Lavar don't come with any leverage to the table intangible or tangible you even alluded "IF he balls out." Right now he ain't balling out because he is not in the league yet.

Does Lavar own a manufacturing plant? Does he have any distribution channel that allows him a market that Nike or the other shoe company aren't penetrating or aware of, does he have some type of patented technology for his son's shoe that will differentiate it from the other shoes in the market? Most importantly, Lonzo does not even have a BRAND (something that takes building) because he hasn't played PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL YET.

A partnership requires that each one of the party brings something different to the table that each party doesn't have. What the hell does Lavar Ball bring to the table in May of 2017 that justifies a partnership with a corporation with Billions in revenues?

He wants nike to do that

And one more thing - how is it a problem that Nike reaps the profits when they are the damn company?

You do know they reap the profits because they are a 40 year old company that has global sales, thousands of employees, hundreds of manufacturing locations across the planet earth, distribution networks across the planet, their own in house advertising agency and the top shoe designers in the world. The fukk are they in business for, to not make money lol?

Exactly :pachaha:

Every black basketball/sports fan should be rooting for BBB/the Ball family to succeed.

I don't get why the Coli gives Lavar Ball/BBB for brokering their own sneaker/athletic gear apparel only for them to sweat new Nike/adidas/Under Armour sneakers/gear when they're released.

Everyone on this board needs to understand that LaVar's position is not in the best interests of Lonzo, it's in the best interests of LAVAR.

You all realize there's a way for Lonzo to have his cake and eat it too, right? Lonzo can take a rookie endorsement deal with Nike, and if he turns into a huge star, either re-up with them OR sign an exclusive deal with BBB once his first deal expires? Then, at that point, the BBB brand will actually have some demonstrable market value and will actually make a licensing deal with someone much more likely (probably not the big 3 and still probably not at the royalty rates LaVar wants)?

Have you ever asked yourself why LaVar isn't doing that instead when it's the simplest and most obvious solution? The answer is because LaVar personally makes NOTHING during the term of Lonzo's first deal, whereas if he holds out for a licensing deal with BBB (which he owns), then the profits will flow directly into his pockets.

Keep in mind this is a guy who has been trying to figure out how to monetize his children from before they were even conceived. And ask yourself if supporting a man who is taking a ridiculous business position with zero leverage at no cost to himself but at the potential cost of millions to his son is really the right play here?

I would say close thread, but I enjoy these threads way too much :russ:

One more time for emphasis:

i think this is stupid because if people are gonna drop 200 on shoes, they're gonna get whatever Js are out. and from what ive seen of those designs  might be tough to compete

i think around 120 is a better move. but fukk do i know, i dont have a shoe brand :heh::ehh:

If Lavar wasn't related to Lonzo...

Matter of fact, if Lavar was Lonzo's uncle, not even his father, just his father's brother, nikkas would be callin' him a crook, an opportunist and a snake.

But what do I know. I'm just a c00n who would rather hoop in shoes that have gone through R&D and vetted by a billion dollar corporation rather than buy screen-printed shirts from a guy who picked his (white) wife specifically for her size and genes

You don't get it cause you on your emotional flow. Cats done explained it many times but cats like you on some no no no no no no no shyt. If you ran a company you'd be cool doing what you asking the sneaker companies to do? Y'all cats need to get up off the super emo shyt and think rationally. It's not many that truly want dude to fail the just see the opposite side and have their own views on how he can do things potentially better. Why can't people do that without y'all on some y'all hating little kid stuff?
