Most Black people don't want to work hard in college. Life is one big party for most nikkas. That is, until they reach 32 and realize they have a long life ahead of them and that they didn't put in the work in those early years to establish themselves.

shyt gets real in your 30s if you haven't laid the proper foundation for your life.

30s can be the best decade of your life or the worst decade.

I've noticed that. The majority of the Black kids at my expensive school are crowded into BS majors (I am too, but I can go into Accounting, and am going to law school in a year).
There are almost no Black kids in Engineering, Physics, Pre-Med (two of the girls that are have trash GPAs and won't make it past the MCAT), or Mathematics.
And because our families push "college" instead of "successful major and career afterward" a lot of Black kids go, pick Communications, smoke and drink all 4 years and then write long Tumblr articles about how this generation is screwed employment-wise, and that college is a big scam.

How do you not get this? These jobs are typically in the suburbs and families have held these jobs for generations. The few given out are done through connections. As for highschool drop outs, it's rampant. Why would someone focus on school when they are planning on working at the plant anyway. This is common knowledge, I've seen it too much.

Real talk.

Couple stories.

1) I went to MS/HS with a white dude named Brad. Great grades (i'm talkin' Top 5), great athlete, all that.
Everybody was gettin' ready for college, and Brad wasn't even trippin'. He said every since sophomore year
"Nah, i'm not going to college...my dad runs the Pipefitters' Union. I already know how to do it, so when I
graduate i'll already have a job..."

2) I told this story here before, but it fits.
Some years ago, I went to the DMV to renew my license. In the waiting room, I saw a white dude I went to
HS with. He didn't finish. He just stopped coming to school when he was 20 and hadn't graduated yet.
He was what some would call "a wigger". Hardly came to school, when he did he smelled like weed, but he was cool with everybody.
Anyway, I go to holla at dude and I ask him how he's doing.
He tells me chit is cool - he got the hook up from somebody else we went to school with for a manufacturing job
making $6 per hour than I was making at the time with my college ass.


...and that's just a couple, but the point is that if you got connections you can still eat. We don't really have that.
Also - black folks aren't really encouraged to learn trades or take blue collar jobs like this anymore. But that's another thread.

Part of it is the fact that a lot of Black people major in bullshyt in college.

A construction worker who dropped out of high school is going to make nearly as much or more money and live more comfortably than a person who has degrees in english, sociology, psychology, women's studies, exercise science, sports studies, etc. and a bunch of debt.

We don't have the networks to be able to major in weak shyt and still be able to land a good job.

Maybe one day we'll have a network of Black businesses that can absorb a lot of Black graduates.

Until that time, nikkas need to be majoring in marketable shyt like Math, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, etc.

People with education and skills are still undervalued. We need worker unions to raise the standard of living.

I'm so sick of black people who ACTUALLY are in positions to give a little favoritism to another black person act brand new. No one is saying you have to go around screaming you hate white people. But I've seen other races CLEARLY show favoritism towards people of the same race they do it subtly but at the end of the day they still hook up their people Indians do this shyt ALL the time and even white people see it and maybe be get suspicious but 9 times out of 10 no one is bold is ENOUGH to call out the favoritism because if the person is qualified for the job you can't really prove they hired them due to race.

As a caveat, having a college degree is still better than not having one. Black people whom think they will get a good job with only a liberal arts degree are probably the ones whom make up the largest proportion of OP's statistic. Black people with degrees in business, engineering, law or medicine are making more than white high school dropouts.

Look at all the ultra wealthy....wealthy...and getting by folks. Almost all are in sales to some degree....

Middle America is full of CACs getting paid 30+ per hour for low skilled manufacturing jobs.

Meanwhile new grads are competing with eachother for 40k a year entry level jobs.

Get an advanced degree and you won't have that problem. Or just become a doctor, lawyer or consultant. The problem is that most blacks whom get degrees get degrees in nonsense and don't pursue further education (either because they lack ambition or not smart enough).

I wouldn't necessarily say this. I think it's that a lot of Black people don't take school seriously enough. Too many Black folks think just getting any degree will guarantee a job, which is far from the case. I've seen it first hand. Many of the Black college students got the game messed up thinking they can just be average like White people. Unfortunately, you have to be exceptional as a Black person and even then, the plain average White person may still get the better opportunities.

In the post recession world, that is true, but if you were a breh in the 90's with a 2.3 GPA and any random degree, you would have gotten an office job back then.

Now, without worker unions, and automation, the concept of money is hard to get by.

I was blessed to find my first job out of college; 4 years ago. I was hired by a sister who went to Clark Atlanta; I was killing that job because I did not want to make her look bad. Sister was solid

This is common knowledge and blacks need to stop grouping ourselves with these lations.

Personal experience; I interviewed for a lab manager position working in the cancer research dept. doing investigations on tumors, I killed the interview and had all the qualifications. The next day I looked online at the job and I noticed they changed the qualifications lol; so they could say there looking for a person with more experience. A couple of weeks later they sent me a email saying there going foward with candidates, with more qualifications. I looked again and the job is still opened lol. It's all a game; you just have to keep pushing and don't let these motherfukkers kill your self esteem.

To be honest I've had the same experience. Anytime I've been promoted or put on to a good opportunity there was always a black person involved in the process. Loved my former black coworkers

The White kids with Bio majors are struggling too.

No they're not. If a white kid without a degree is building more wealth than black kids with degrees, you expect me to believe that white kids with "terrible" majors are having trouble finding well paying jobs? This is the crux of the issue....

Some are but statistically speaking, not at the same rate as black grads.
