But it's weird. He was quoted as saying he used the pentatonic structure (which I know nothing about), but then when showed some notes he says:

"I'm not comfortable"

That would be like me saying "I wrote this movie, but I wanted to take the 4 act structure and do it in reverse". The someone asks "Tell me what the 4 act structure is?" and my answer is:

:usure: "I'm not comfortable"

Plus, wasn't he in band with Chad in school? Or they went to a school for gifted musicians or something. That's where they met, right?

I don't doubt his talents, and he probably is a genius, but you'd think 20+ years in the business, and throwing around shyt like "pentatonic structure" would allow you to identify one note on a piece of paper, no?

Just because someone knows what they're doing musically, it doesn't mean they KNOW it !
You know what I mean ?

Have you ever met a person who can speak very well but when it comes time to write, their grammar is bad or difficult to understand ?
They might not be able to read sheet music or tell you what "modulation" is or know how to construct extended chords etc. but when they get in front of an instrument, they speak fluently.

I don't want to assume Pharrel is that sorta musician because he did say he could read sheet
music but just in case he is, that's a valid explanation. IMO.

Did Marvin Gaye write instrumentals? I find is funny his fam is suing. Marv just did dope and sang:comeon:
He could actually play multiple instruments.
He didn't just "do dope and sang", dude started off as a session drummer at Motown.

This. People will clown him in this thread but the music is different as is the lyrics and melody. The sheet music would easily prove that the chords/notes are different but people hear a fukking cowbell and suddenly they're "guilty".

Notice how other artists didn't co-sign this verdict because even fukking Rae Sremmurd could tell that both songs are different. I find it hard to believe that Pharrell would blatantly plagiarize on a smash hit that the whole world is gonna hear and think that it's all good. And at what point in his career has a precedent of "stealing" been an issue? Never.

Marvin's family rolled the dice on this one and hit a hell of a lick. But how much did they truly care about the legacy of his musical integrity (and not the marketing/licensing bullshyt) before the lawyers rolled up?
Just because you got caught doesn't mean no one else broke the rules.

Fact is, Pharrell even admitted to "feelings like marvin"...that was going to come back on him more than he ever imagined.

He said in Part 3:

"I'm telling you that's not accurate, and I did say that"

:russ:

That's the equivalent of Rick James in the Chappelle sketch when he said:

"Charlie's crazy he always making stuff up....... Yeah I remember standing on Eddie's couch"

:deadmanny:

I'm a big Marvin fan.
I never heard blured lines in its entirety. Never made the connection.

As soon as I read that blured lines was being sued for ripping off a Marvin song. I knew immediately what Marvin song it was going to be.

That's how blatant a rip off this shyt was

I respect Marv, but I doubt he was really making music outside of singing. Just like James Brown. JB couldn't read music like that, but I bet he got production credits too.
Wtf man. A simple google search would clear your "doubt". Marvin did it all. Wrote, produced, played multiple instruments. Cmon dog

Lawyer: "You said you were trying to think you were marvin gaye" :leostare:

Pharrell: "I did say that in the interview" :mjpls:

Lawyer: "But you just said you didn't have marvin gaye on your mind in the studio" :beli:

Pharrell: "I did say that...but thats not accurate" :troll:

:wow:

Man Pharrell couldn't even keep the lie straight. If he'd have been prepared with interviews from the outset he'd have been straight :snoop:
