point blank the family didnt sue him for sampling the record, and they didnt sue him for taking a melody... they sued him for taking a 'feel'... they sued him for creativing something that is evocative of marvin gaye... and while its true that he did... its not illegal to do so...
The problem with your argument is that based on the statements/ interviews made by robin thicke and pharell themselves one could say that without "got to give it up" there would be no "blurred lines". It appears to be a direct correlation based on statements made from them regarding how they came up with blurred lines so credit is due.

the point i am making is that the fact there is a direct correlation between the songs doesnt mean its infringement, at least traditionally that wasnt considered infringement.

Really?

Not being sarcastic here; but I would have thought that coming from such a musical family that he would have at least some modicum of training.

Truthfully, the only similarity is stylistically. The music itself isn't the same. The lyrics are completely different, can't own a chord progression (they're slightly different), and different sounds. It's one of the craziest lawsuits I've seen. The closest thing derived from got to give it up are the chants Pharrell did on blurred lines. You all can cook, though. Provide actual evidence that he stole from Marvin Gaye.

This. People will clown him in this thread but the music is different as is the lyrics and melody. The sheet music would easily prove that the chords/notes are different but people hear a fukking cowbell and suddenly they're "guilty".

Notice how other artists didn't co-sign this verdict because even fukking Rae Sremmurd could tell that both songs are different. I find it hard to believe that Pharrell would blatantly plagiarize on a smash hit that the whole world is gonna hear and think that it's all good. And at what point in his career has a precedent of "stealing" been an issue? Never.

Marvin's family rolled the dice on this one and hit a hell of a lick. But how much did they truly care about the legacy of his musical integrity (and not the marketing/licensing bullshyt) before the lawyers rolled up?

hes not comfortable bc he doesnt know music theory :mjlol:
theyre trying to expose him and he got exposed. anyone who know the answers to those theory questions would answer it wit the quikness.
and him not being able to answer those questions proves that his opinion about anything theoretical with that song is NULL AND VOID.
he dont wtf hes talking bout. and all hes looking like is a BEAT BITER
Did you not read?

If he admitted it, he'd admit to being able to read music...and thus admitting he stole the song
