But he made an effort to answer other questions that he should have been "uncomfortable" answering.

Dude can't read sheet music, it's as simple as that. That doesn't take away from how talented he is though.

:francis:
Hell, most rap producers can't read sheet music.

But still, he must have been afraid to admit that on camera or even let people think he couldnt (whether or not he could) or something...either way, it cost him :manny:

he should have seen it coming though...which makes me wonder why his lawyer ain't warn him on that. :what:

Fam, if you said you can't read music, you totally skip that problem.

If you tell me you can read, then i'm gonna ask you to read some text message transcripts, etc.

That's how pride gets nikkas in trouble, and the lawyer counted on him being prideful which is why he went so hard on him, "it's because you CAN'T read music", fukked up part is that he was 100% right, I know he was burning up on the inside trying to keep his composure,

But are you trying to tell me, a producer, who has produced music for 20+ years.

From Hip-Hop to R&B and Pop, when showed one note, can't identify it?

One note.

The lawyer didn't ask him to play Mozart, he said, "Tell me what this note is"
I know that threw me off too because i've been reading music since i was 7 and it's not that hard to do. But maybe he just never bothered to learn. Or maybe he felt like if he showed even the slighted knowledge of the mechanics of music that the prosecutor would paint him as a deliberate plagiarizer. But i do know one thing P better hope the courts don't go thru The Neptunes' discography because this certainly isn't the first time he's done this.

Most producers period can't read music. Shyt most rock musicians can't read and barely know anything beyond the blues and pentatonic scale but they can play hell out of their respective instrument. Music theory gives you conscious awareness of what you're doing on a technical level but it's not necessary to function on an instrument. You can go to your local church and see that for your self.

Truthfully, the only similarity is stylistically. The music itself isn't the same. The lyrics are completely different, can't own a chord progression (they're slightly different), and different sounds. It's one of the craziest lawsuits I've seen. The closest thing derived from got to give it up are the chants Pharrell did on blurred lines. You all can cook, though. Provide actual evidence that he stole from Marvin Gaye.

Not crazy at all. The evidence was that Robin thicke admitted in an GQ interview the Marvin Gaye song was the direct inspiration for the record and they had went into the studio with the intention of making a track similar. He later tried to claim he was drunk and high when he did the interview but it was too late.

Cause you are admitting what you created is a derivative work based off an existing work. Now if you don't plan on crediting the owner of the work who directly inspired your work that's fine. People get away with it all the time cause that's normally hard to prove unless your a dummy like Robin Thicke giving interviews stating the exact artist and song you used.
