Fair enough. I don't like Lowry because of his playoff performances but otherwise I think Kidd and most pass first PGs are extremely overrated
Would you also say it's fair enough to say that Lowry has been playing better over the last two seasons than Kidd ever did?

My goddamn self. Shout out to my real Africans
The problem with J Kidd was when it became a half court game he was limited. He couldn't shoot or score. You can sag off on him and more pay attention defensively to other scoring threats.

But folks are enamored with his passing ability and triple doubles.

Pass first PGs are problematic that way.

This doesn't answer my question. Why didn't Kidd take on more of a scoring role? You said (and I quote) he's a "steroid shot" to any offense, so why didn't he try to put his teams in a better position of winning on the offensive end by scoring more and on better efficiency, when they had such a "poorly contsructed" team?

:jbhmm:

steroid shot doesn't = omnipotent player with no flaws
why didn't the GM surround him with players that would allow him to play to his strengths? :lupe:
despite being put in an imperfect role, he took his team further than lowry who was put in a role much closer to his abilities:jbhmm:

There's been pass first ones who could shoot. Nash could shoot, stockton could shoot, you could argue chris Paul as a pass first guard. Kidd just couldn't shoot.

Anybody that watched Kidd in DAL, PHO and NJ could see this. Anybody that says any different either is on some revisionist shyt or weren't even watching the league back then. Which is why I simply don't understand how folk are acting like it's blasphemous to sayLowry who's a better offensive player (especially in the half court) is better than him at his peak. It's not saying he's had a better career, or that he should be ranked ahead of him on an all-time list. Just the simple fact he's the better player at his peak.

See, this is the problem I have with y'all. Using this dishonest bullshyt as if it means anything. Lowry ran into a top-3 player of all-time during his prime, TWICE. Kidd was playing bum ass teams en route to the Finals. Imagine a Kidd-led team getting into the Finals if he had to go through LeBron? It's not happening. Imagine If Lowry didn't have to come up against the Cavs? He'd probably have two Finals apperances as the main guy like Kidd did. Would that change who he is as a player? Of course not.

Were you watching the league in the early 00s? Do you remember just how horrible the EC was?

You still didn't get it right. :russ:

Nevermind the fact it's hilarious how dudes are all up in here saying shyt like 'you can't use stats, you have to watch the game', then you come along with the box score and quote stats that don't mean a cotdamn thing.
the dude averaged 15/3/6

dude was mediocre period by any metric, eye test whatever...at least J Kidd was a winner

Kidd was the starting PG on a title winning team with an explosive offense just 6 years ago:dame:
He averaged 8 points on that team while averaging less than 30 minutes per game. He shot 36% from the field and 34% from deep, which is nothing special considering what that team had on it's roster. A team with six other players who could shoot from distance at an effective rate (Terry, Butler, Peja, Stevenson, Barea, Nowitzki). More importantly, this discussion is about what Kidd was at his peak, and he didn't develop a jumper until late in his career once his peak was over.
