The one last thing I can stress is credit cards. My advice...If u can avoid them do so.. .If u never had one good. Get one from a mall or a mail in.....When the physical card is in your hand. This is what u do. Go to the mall and buy 1 pair of sneakers(or 1 item under $100) with the credit card. Dont buy anything else. When the bill comes pay the bill then cut up the credit card and dont think about getting a credit card till after u graduate or when u are 30. This way when u pay the bill u will establish good credit and as the years build up ya credit will be A1. At 30 u are now more mature to handle a credit card and ya credit score will be excellent. If u are someone who already has habits with credit card spending...Just keep in mind u have to always pay ya bills. Dont mess up ya credit. U keep it clean by paying ya bills...U fukk it up by not paying ya bills. I have no advice for anyone who is wreckless with credit cards.

bad advice. you can't be an adult and survive w/o credit in america. better advice would be, don't be an idiot and spend more than what you make. also be responsible nd pay ya shyt ON TIME!!

I'm with DoD currently... and after i got past the fact unqualified people get shyt things they don't deserve all the time, shyt started working out great for me.

Most important thing I realized is that your job title doesn't mean shyt if people don't respect you...... countless people fail their way upwards into jobs, and swear it came with respect.

The respect of your peers is of greater importance than most think of it being.... Make sure people respect you first and foremost as a man...and your ability to do your job better than any of them can.

Talk with as many people as you can, but never give up to much information about yourself.
Always make eye contact, you don't have to keep it. But make sure to make it from time to time when talking to someone.
The more you can stay away from social media, the better off you'll be.
Don't chase a man or women. AT ALL

Being polite with get you things you would never guess it would.

Not "wear a condom" "don't drink and drive" type of advice. They've heard that. I'm talking about real...REAL LIFE advice that you learned the hard way.

I have a good friend who is 24 and regularly depressed and more so...feels lost.

Here's a secret for those of you who are too:

Nobody else knows what they're doing either. I have a very solid career but I am just going with the flow...regularly get the feeling I've fukked or am fukkin up...and feel lost. The most directed and driven people you know in life are actually lost like you too. Nobody decided "I'm going to be X" in hs or during college and then...did it...and if they did they have second thoughts and doubts every day. There is not a way you're supposed to be going, or a place you're supposed to be at a time in your life. Don't fall into those constructs. And don't get disappointed because you're not "there" yet.

I could continue but I'll pause there. Add on
Your lost and confused because you have no Islam (Submission to Allah (the One and Only True God)). Allah has not created Mankind without a purpose. The purpose of life is to worship Allah. Islam leads to Heaven in this life and the Afterlife if you practice it correctly. My life just keeps on getting better and better (Praise be to Allah), and I truly feel like Allah has blessed me with Heaven on earth! Allah knows best if I will die as a Muslim or not, but Heaven in the afterlife is even beyond imagination.

Really focus in on building your credit and ALWAYS paying on time. Whether its your credit card, your cell phone payment, or your car payment. Always on time. ALWAYS. No two ways about it. If that was one thing I wish I would have really had told to me it would have helped a lot. NEVER settle with the credit card company if it gets out of hand, don't let it just go to collections. It's better to steal and pay it off than it is to just let it go lol. Keep that credit score clean and build credit history. PAY on time now to not have to pay more out of pocket in interest later. DONT BE LATE WITH PAYMENTS.

Getting those 17%+ interest rates on cars is not whats up. Getting wack ass interest rates on credit cards is not whats up. Not being able to get qualified for a place to live is not whats up. And last but not least when it comes time to purchase a home not qualify for the type of home you want or at all.

I say this as someone who fukked off a credit card at 18 and mother didn't put any sense into. I paid for that mistake for YEARS. Once you have a good credit score and good credit history you would be surprise how different things are when it comes to major purchases. Life is much better and easier when you have good credit. It's super quick to destroy and takes a long time to repair. Believe me.

I fukked myself over when it came to credit early...it was/ is like an endless stream of L's....

There really should be a licensing/certification system when it comes to credit....where you can't get over a certain level of credit until you've proven a level of understanding how credit works

-Don't go to college and acquire thousands of dollars in student loans If you're not into school. Learn a trade instead

-Don't blow money or go into debt by trying to impress people that don't give two sh*ts about you

-If your folks aren't rich or connected you have to bust your ass off. Work hard. There are no shortcuts out here

-Educated yourself about credit, loans, credit cards, etc. The forums at MyFico.com have alot of knowledge and inside info in this subject.

-exercise, it not only helps you physically but mentally as well

What's the story?..gotta be one

Went out with my homegirls one night, drank way too much...forgot to get up in time for the shuttle to the train station so i could get home, wash my ass and then head out to work.... ended up having to go straight to work from their hotel still halfway drunk.

Luckily, had a spare change of clothes at the job... ended up having to take a mini hoe bath with baby wipes in the bathroom, and hid the fact i was still sweating out tequila with some Hugo Boss sample sized cologne.

But the travel sized baby wipes are a must...cause you may end up having to take the L and shyt at work, and you know workplace toilet paper is WOAT.

A few Floors Down from the Daily Grind
Good thread.

As a rule of thumb,I'm 38 and still think about what I want to be when I grow up.

You need real world experiences to survive and thrive, don't think a degree gets you anything but debt.

Work on your emotional intelligence. Understanding people, communicating and adjusting will help you through so many of lives pitfalls.

shyt will go by REALLY quick so don't flake out on shyt you want to try because you'll quickly hit a moment t where you realize you can now never be that person you daydreams about while you stocked shelves at a Wal-Mart.
