Not really. This isn't the NFL. The better team wins 99% of the time because they play a series instead of a single game.
i'd like to see references for that stat because i dont believe that at all.
This is fairy tale shyt, and that's if you're merely playing to win a round. Otherwise, you may be playing a win or go home game at the end of the season and really not be upset with the outcome.
only 1 team will win the title. its not a fairy tale to think a lower seed can win a round
winning the title isnt the only measure of a successful season for all the teams. take phoenix for example. are they gonna beat san antonio or okc in the first round this year? doubtful. does that mean they should have tanked this year? i would think that would be ridiculous. their season has been very successful. your scenario...where a couple of win or go home games that a team doesnt care too much about at the end of the season....is much more favorable than watching teams tank for half the season.
