Why does Jay-Z have 12 platinum albums, and 50/nelly/DMX can only sell albums to close friends?

Irrelevant, never said Dame made Kanye

Where in that song Big Brother does Kanye talk about Jay Z believing in him like Dame did? Nowhere, just because Jay was his idol doesnt mean that Jay didnt steal Kanye.. Kanye just happened to like him more as a person because hes well.. Jay Z and agreeing to be stolen would help him more than staying loyal to Dame:ehh:

Big brother got his show up in Madison Square
And I'm like yea, yea we gonna be there
But not only did I not get a chance to spit it
Carleen told me I could buy two tickets
I guess big brother was thinking a little different
Kept little brother at bay, at a distance
Put everything I felt was more focused
Only made me more focused
Only wrote more potent
Only thing I wanna know is why I get looked over
I guess ill understand when I get more older
Big brother saw me at the bottom of the todum
Now I'm at the top and everybody on the scrodum

Whole verse about Jay Z not giving a fukk about him until he got hot now hes on his scrotum:wow:

He got me out momma crib, and he helped get my momma a crib

No need, Nasir already admitted himself that Holy Grail changed rap culture, which explains why he's making an album just like it :yeshrug:

So let's compare the fact that Jay Z with Swizz - On to the Next One. Nas with Swizz = Summer on Smash :comeon:.

People need to accept that Jay Z can flow over any type of production and make any song hot and that + marketing + a core fan base is why he's always relevant. People make up all these excuses when the answer is right there. All of Jay Z's contemporaries were only good at one type of sound or style and when the public tired of that sound, all the energy around them was gone. It's that simple, people who embody trends will sell more than him when that trend is the thing, and then fade away when the trend dies down. NO matter what the sound is, it always seems like a Jay record when he's on it and like he's co-opting whats hot as opposed to riding what's hot. That and his albums never sound like anyone else's album that came out that year or his previous album.
:banderas: it's crazy isn't it? The mental gymnastics these simple cats go through to hate on Jay is just

They also fail to realize that the core of Jay's music; do for self.... Will always be popular with the American people. Dude just pretty much has the biggest toolbox of any rapper to ever pick up a mic not named Biggie Smalls. He can do it all, except conscious hip hop, any beat, any time. Dude is lazy now, but the way he can find the 'pockets' of a record and make it work is what's taken him thus far. People always underrate him as an artist. They portray him as calculated, but at his core when he approaches music he's more instinctual.... He doesn't write complex verses like that. He just gets in the studio and makes something natural and :banderas: while flowing over a beat...

He needs to bring back that 97-99 flow though

I'll settle for the AG flow at least. I do appreciate that Jay raps for what the song requires though. Like that "they don't love you no more" song. His verse made perfect sense for that type of record. It's like people don't have fun anymore. I go to pick up my younger cousin from school and this teacher is too close to this other kid and he goes, "Hold up, HEISSSSSSSSSSSSSMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN." :dead:

But yeah, the theme of Jay's albums has always been "go get it," and people don't realize that desire to be great will always resonate.

breh
jay had no id songs and nas has no.id songs and they do not sound anything alike.
hell, jay's kanye songs and nas' kanye songs don't sound anything alike.
this album won't sound like magna carta - though i can see an attempt at a radio hit from nas!!!
hope i'm wrong on that part!

I just think that for the sake of his own legacy with the heads, he needs to kill an entire/most of an album like he did with The Black Album maybe. Dudes forgetting who the god is  features show us he can do it if he feels like... Time for dude to make a real 'international' album.

Jay making an album integrating an album of all folk/world music into hip hop beats :wow:

Dmx has a drug problem people don't look at him like they use to.
Nelly and 50 both had crazy success that happens onces in a life time
Jayz is good at reinventing history and people seem to buy the lies even if they grew up in the era.
Hell even ja rule was bigger then jayz at one point

That would work if he brought back The Black Album's Jay Z. Then again, that Sean Paul and Timbo track on the BP2 was :scusthov:

What exactly are these lies that are being bought?
