My only theory is that they're now trying to make the playoffs and so they're trying to add a "veteran presence" to help them.

If they want a vet presence, pay Rashard Lewis a little over the vet minimum. They had a vet PG getting overpaid. And that was at a position of need. He could've started while Payton learned from him.

Younger players could help them make the playoffs. I would've rather they spent the Frye money on Patrick Patterson and Greivis Vasquez.

This leads me to believe they're going to overpay some other old player(s) that'll steal minutes because Vaughn is trying to protect his job. Is Ariza next? Luol Deng? Steve Blake? Boozer on waivers?
