2025 College Football Playoff Ranking Thread

There's no benefit in them joining a conference (at least for football). This cry for them to do so is futile. They get all the money, have more say so and control over their schedule, and have a unique TV contract that guarantees exposure every week. Joining a conference would be hustling backwards for them.

I would freeze them out the playoffs unless they're unbeaten or have 1 loss every year. Allowing them to jump over teams that lose in a conference title game, which has happened in the past, is lucacy. Get them outtahere.

G5 teams really have no business in this playoff.

As I said in main thread, the G5 teams should have their own playoff. Teams like JMU, Tulane, Boise State, UNLV, etc should be facing each other. That would be live.

Thats really my only complaint. Those two slots should have went to teams like TX and ND.

They really don’t understand that football is all about the line of scrimmage and those teams are gonna be way out matched it isn’t basketball where a team can catch fire from 3

Basketball isn’t football and you know that it’s a false equivalence

Anything can happen in one game. In basketball we thought letting 16 seeds play was pointless because they could never win, now we've seen 2 win in the last 10 years

This isn't even a "this year" conversation, we've seen this same type of discourse in the BCS, in the 4-team era and 12-team.

My overall point is if you don't want those teams to be able to compete for a championship then why are they even in the same subdivision? Have a championship for the P4+ND, a championship for the G5 and let the FCS do what they do. If you don't want to do that, then you have to give those teams a shot or else they're playing for nothing

Nah you just set yourself up for collusion. If other teams can get in without winning their conference, what's the point of joining one?
