It’s all about what you put in your mouth. If you want to lose weight, one thing to do is think like a diabetic. Everything you eat turns to sugar. So you need to limit your added sugar intake. Soda, juice, cake, candy. Hell, get ketchup with no added sugar. Chill with the carbs. If you don’t want to cut it out, then greatly limit your intake. Water is your best friend. Make vegetables a staple of all your meals. Reduce the amount of calories you consume. If you do that, you’ll lose weight. If you add exercise on top of that, you’ll lose even more. I don’t go to the gym anymore because that shyt just fukking annoys me. But I have a decent set of kettlebells and a sandbag. So there’s no excuse at all to not work out. It’s dedication and it’s going to take you at least a year, year and a half, to get close to your goal. I’m factoring in that you may plateau.

Who gives a fukk what people did 100s of years ago, they barely lived to see 50 a lot of the time. Going weeks without food is not healthy, at all. You think they chose to go days and days without food for health benefits? They went long periods without food because there wasn’t a Kroger down the street. Fasting is fine, nothing wrong with eating at 8 the night before and skipping breakfast and getting you a 12-14 hour daily downtime of no eating. I do that a lot of days. Going days or weeks without nourishment or any sort in 2019 in simply idiotic. Sound like some of them twitter keto cult nutrition folks that act like eating a strawberry is unhealthy. “This is how they did it in the caveman days they went days without eating and died at 27 but they were real fit and healthy when they died so try and eat as little as possible because that’s what they did”

First of all, people in the past lived just as long as we do (if not longer). The only reason average lifespans were shorter back then is because infant mortality was so much higher. Most people died either during childbirth or within the first two years. If you survived past the first few years then you lived as long as people live now.

Now its true that our ancestors weren't fasting out of choice. They were fasting because food was more scarce back then. You ever heard the saying what doesn't kill you makes you stronger? Well not eating all the time actually strengths your immune system and makes you healthier overall because you are stressing your body. Read up on the scientific literature. There have been lots of experiments in mice showing that when you force them to fast for 48 hours at a time that they lived 50% longer than other mice who were eating everyday. Whether you like it or not fasting makes our bodies stronger because it exposes the body to stress in the same way working out at the gym makes your muscles stronger because you expose them to stress.

For most people fasting 7+ days on a consistent basis is probably not a good idea. That sort of extreme fasting is for people who are obese. For the average person 3-4 day fasts are sufficient if you want to lose weight. Fasting for more than 24 hours is not idiotic. Its the best thing you can do for your overall health.

The average person can't just jump right into 2-3 day fasts. They need to start with IF so their body can first get used to going longer periods without eating, and then build from there. That's how I started.

I jumped straight into a 3.5 day fast 2 weeks ago. It was hard. Then my body got used to it. Now 2 weeks later 3 day fasts are a breeze.

Our bodies adapt pretty quickly to change. Don't undersell the amazing potential we have within us. When it comes to fasting you don't want to ease in. You want to go straight in with a 48-72 hour fast. That way you body can detox itself from a lifetime of over-reliance on eating a meal everyday. Once your has that first experience with fasting it ends up getting easier every time afterwards. Its sorta like jumping into a cold swimming pool rather than trying to ease in one toe at a time. With fasting you wanna jump right into the deep end.

Eat keto for a week then fast 7-21 days. Then adf while incorporating a beginners full body workout program refeeding after you lift. You’d be sub 220 before spring

you don’t need to go to that extent to lose weight and get benefits. A simple 8-10 hour feeding window each day is all you need. You just watched some YouTube faux nutrition gurus because it’s the trend du jour and feel like it’s the only way to do things because you lost weight in a few weeks doing so, and have yet to lose muscle (hint: you will if you eat once a week)

With fasting what can you intake

Anything you want. Now obviously a diet based on non-processed foods that has a nice balance of carbs, protein, and healthy fats is preferred. But the great thing about fasting is you can eat whatever you want and still lose weight and be totally healthy. Its why this is the best diet you can do. You don't have to watch your calories or what foods you eat. If you like burgers you can still eat them. I personally eat homemade burgers every week and I'm losing 1 lbs a day for the last 2 weeks.

The key to losing weight and becoming healthier is EATING FREQUENCY. Eat only once (in a one hour window) every 2-3 days. During that eating window you can consume as many calories as you want made up of whatever foods you want. However after you have that "feast" you must "fast" for the next 48-72 hours. From my experience if you want to lose around 2-3 lbs between each eating window then you must fast for at least 72 hours. 48 hour fasts are cool but they're more for maintenance than losing a lot of weight real quick. When you reach your ideal weight then do 48 hour fasts. But until then I would suggest 72-96 hour fasts.

If you still want specific advice on what you should eat, I would suggest a healthy balanced meal. That means fruits, vegetables, bread or spaghetti, and meats. Basically eat foods from that food pyramid we learned in school. You just want to eat enough food that makes you full. Once you are sufficiently full you fast.

Actually the 16-8 intermittent fasting routine is bullshyt for people who want to lose a lot of weight like homeboy who made this thread. Sure if you're already in good shape a 8-10 hour eating window is fine. But if you need to lose 100+ lbs you'll need to go a more aggressive fasting routine.

And while I haven't done a week long fast yet, I have done several 3 day fasts and have yet to lose any strength. I've actually had crazy amounts of energy and strength during day 2 and 3 of my fast. For me I only start to feel lethargic after day 4. That's why I broke my fast today after roughly 100 hours because I was not feeling energetic. For my body type right now (170 lbs at last count) a week long fast is probably too much. Its looks like I can only max out at 4 days. However, people who are much fatter than me with more stored fat can fast longer without much of a problem.

Essentially let the scale guide you. Have a target weight you want to lose every week or so and don't eat until you reach that goal.

:heh: just a bunch of gibberish from some ADD ass trend diet newbie who thinks he’s a know it all after a few twitter threads and YouTube videos from nutrition “experts”

I've actually got real world experience with this. I didn't just read about it. I've practiced it.

I started fasting 14 days ago. In those 2 weeks I've gone from 188 lbs with a gut to a lean 170 lbs beach ready body. That's 18 lbs of pure fat off my physique. The results have been so great that I'm now trying to push myself to get down to 13-14% body fat in the next 2 weeks then adding nothing but lean muscle so that I'm shredded like a muthafukka by the time spring comes around.

During this time period I've also eaten whatever I wanted in as large a portion as I want. I usually eat a large bowl of fruits to start off. Then I have a plate full of protein and carbs. Typically spaghetti with grilled chicken, ground beef, and lots of veggies and avocado. Other days I like to eat burgers. So I get two large beef patties that I make at home. I also eat some eggs on the side for added protein. I have no idea how many calories I consume at each setting but I like to eat as much as I can until I'm totally full. Then I chill and won't eat again for another 72 hours. This practice along with going to the gym everyday has melted body fat off my body faster than anything I've ever done before.

Exactly. You’re a complete newb and act like you know everything about nutrition. 2 weeks and in here telling a folks to become anorexic because you lost some initial water weight so now it’s the end al be all. Clown shyt. You’ve done like 3 actual multi day fasts and spewing a lot of horseshyt like an expert. I lost almost as much weight as referenced by the thread starters goal. I ate every day. You’re starving yourself and in a massive caloric deficit. Of course you lost weight :heh:
