Yea 62% of Americans don't have $1k in savings primarily because of medical bills :skip:

You're either dense or live under a rock if you don't believe that spending is a huge problem in the capitalist Capitol of a the world.

Believe what you want to believe but don't quote me with dumb shyt
If it's the leading cause of bankruptcy would it not stand to reason that it's the leading cause of financial trouble for people?

Also I shouldn't have to remind anyone the median income for a family of 4 is $50,000 while wages are stagnant and cost of living keeps rising

62% percent of Americans = 186 million people. Well roughly cut that in half at about 100 million adults.

Last year all bankruptcies filed totaled ~930k

I'm not an stem major but I don't think bankruptcies caused by medical problems is a that big of a problem in the grand scheme of things.

Now I could see how student loans would factor into things but that still doesn't change anything I've stated

Most Americans have less than $1,000 in savings

Americans are living right on the edge — at least when it comes to financial planning.

Approximately 62% of Americans have less than $1,000 in their savings accounts and 21% don’t even have a savings account, according to a new survey of more than 5,000 adults conducted this month by Google Consumer Survey for personal finance website GOBankingRates.com. “It’s worrisome that such a large percentage of Americans have so little set aside in a savings account,” says Cameron Huddleston, a personal finance analyst for the site. “They likely don’t have cash reserves to cover an emergency and will have to rely on credit, friends and family, or even their retirement accounts to cover unexpected expenses.”

That is just disgusting man. How do not have $1,000 in the bank at the very minimum :scust:

that's america. where you can live without actually having money in the bank or a savings account and still get by.
not everyone has a bank account or puts the money in the bank. some people still cash their pay at a register.
they should redo the percentage to exclude those who HAVE money but dont put it in the bank.
some people live off money orders and ish like that paying the bills, you have no idea.

and was the legit question about 62% being POOR and having under a g?
or was it about just not putting extra money in the bank?
and 21% not having an account are the ones i'm talking about above.

i agree

and im not talkin about people who have it fukked up. im talking about the people i know who easily COULD, but cant even go a month without spending money on bullshyt to get outa the paycheck to paycheck life

I didn't get out of it until 25. Its really a sickness tbh. The feeling that you have to have things and spend all the money you have each week. I shudder when I speak to people who still have the same mindset. It's a blessing to get paid and you're like whatever about it. Ideally, you're supposed to have at least 12 months of expenses saved up. If nikkas don't even have $1,000, a lot of people are fukked if they get fired.
