This is true..... but a lot of talented nikkas do not want to go into white corporate America.... and that is a real thing.... Lawyers can do their thing.... Doctors are going to be a part of a bigger system regardless, but everything else may involve a nikka having to tuck his tail somewhat in front of them folks.....
the tuck tail shyt will continue UNTIL we have enough bodies to stand on our own. and we won't have enough bodies without enough of an educated populace.

i'm not advocating education merely for brehs to seek employment but also create the opportunities and employ ourselves. more brehs pick up a trade or a profession and we will see positive results.

You should take a paid internship just to get your fot in the door and within a year recuiters will be blowing up your phone.

In the meantime keep studying and brushing up your skills using uDemy and other online platforms. Learn DevOps, automation, containers, etc. In one to 3 years you could be clocking $120K easy.

Speak to IT recuiters from these recruiting firms and they will get your info and keep it in their database. Once a job opens up that you fit what the hiring manager is looking for they will holler at you because they get paid based on people they bring in.

Was in school for IT, dropped out, just worked on IT certs. Now alittle over 4 years after my A+ cert I'm making 22 an hour, averaging a 4 dollars raises with each new position on average lmfao.

Now I'm starting to get 25+ n 30+ jobs hitting my line that match my job experience :ohhh:. Gonna chill tho and stack knowledge while working on my AWS cert.

School isn't always the answer:manny:. Learn a trade, esp in tech because there's such a large variety of stuff you can do.

Actually i was told in college that CIS wasn't a good a major. I don't remember exactly why, but i think it was something like people prefer Computer Science major over them because they have too heavy a business curriculum. or it was sort of a hybrid major and alot of people that do the hiring don't actually know what specifically they bring to the table over other majors. Some see it as sign you couldn't hack it in a more traditional major like CS, Physics, Math, EE, etc

don't trust online job statistics by major either, those number don't usually take into account it they found a job in their field. If you working at planet fitness with your degree that gets added to the tally.
At my school, CIS was where you went when you couldn't hack it as CS major. If physics and calc didn't turn you away, the logic and hardware classes did it. CIS majors basically graduated at the help desk level, maybe with Sec+, but not much more than that.

Black men dont have the connections/network/benefit of the doubt that white men have.
That's why we need to get into these roles to create that network for the next batch of black people coming through. We can't run away from these sectors just because nobody looks like us.

I dont disagree, I am just explaining the reality to the other poster there.

Whites being afraid of college is an opportunity/boon for black men as it means more slots in more competitive/higher paying sectors will open up

Men see that shyt for the scam it mostly is

Big facts. I know too many people with masters degrees who make shytty money and are tied down with student loans they will either never be able to pay off or won't pay them off until they are damn near about to die. College in it's current form is fukking extortion.

You cant go to school for basketweaving and think you can get out making 80k+ off the bat.

Yes college is expensive and pocket running in large respects but picking the right area of study goes a long way in alleviating the burden

Man if I had stayed at the job I had while I was in college instead of thinking the entry level was beneath me I’d be making 6 figures a year

Bill Cosby and them turned that mess into a status symbol as opposed to what it was supposed to be: get specific education to get a specifically good job. Some cats had good jobs and pissed them away to get degrees to please “ancestors”

College has become to expensive. You are better off with a learned trade in most circumstances like HVAC tech or electrician and there is no rule that you have to stay at one. Get multiple trade certifications.
Who is better off?

I recruit automotive technicians. Most of the techs I'm looking at least went to a 2 year school.

Even in trade, you are not worse off for getting an education.

People becoming anti-education is sickening. :scust:

Got people thinking "Oh, you can just make it your own way. Join a trade. Learn to code" when their bosses have gone to 2 and 4 year schools.

Statistically there's nothing to show right now that your financial situation is better off without higher education especially for black people. We need the credibility boost more than anyone else.

Or you could just pick up a trade like I did, avoid the debt, and make the same amount of money. :yeshrug:

A lot of young men out here don't realize how many options they usually have because this system is designed to cater and pander to women and basically tell men to HYON from the time they are like 13. All of this will eventually bite this country in the ass big time too, I just hope I can get my son out of here before it happens.
