A lot of people say NIL “exposed” Alabama, how much truth do you say there is to that idea?

That has nothing to do with NIL and everything to do with the Portal.

Look at the team portal rankings from this season

The portal has made CFB more balanced and competitive.

Bama lost their best Defensive lineman a week before the FSU game and their was no one that could replace his production.
The fact that you can’t make the connection between the portal and NIL money is a bit questionable. They’re portaling to schools with funds like Michigan and Ohio State. Neither of those schools wins the national title without portal transfers and Ohio State’s roster cost like 20 million when they won. The SEC powerhouses with brands will attract southern talent but most underclassmen aren’t getting crazy NIL anyway. Those who do? The SEC cannot outbid the schools in the Midwest and out West if they want to go that route. It’ll begin to show more with explicit revenue-sharing on top of NIL collectives. The reason it’s not as apparent is because a lot of SEC schools are actually ahead of the game with having proper GMs to manage things like that and the other schools haven’t gone all in like that yet - if they ever do. NIL is still brand new but it’s clearly change dynamics.

I’d say this, Saban was showing signs of being washed before NIL and once her retire the allure and structure of Bama was gone- i think if he was a little in his tail end of prime with NIL they’d still be a powerhouse

a washed saban was still wining 11-12 games and going to the college football playoffs

Yup.... No reason why UCLA shouldn't still be a power house in basketball with all that bread.....

It has more to do with who the head coach is than their ability to buy recruits.

There is a reason that the top LA area talent went to USC over UCLA.....and it wasn't NIL

Nah it’s been like that for a long time. UCLA alumni just don’t care to go all in on sports. Neither does their administration. There’s no reason for them to basically lose their blue blood basketball status too.

Saban was bursting blood vessels in his eye just yelling at them nikkaz. He said his last yr was way too stressful.

Now he coulda went to Joe Pa route and just hired capable assistants to run the day to day, but he couldn't allow himself to coach like that. Gotta respect him just walking away

If the NIL didn’t exist the players would still portal to other schools for playing time.

How come the b1g isn’t dominating the portal rankings every year?

OSU and Michigan always got their share of the best players. Why wouldn’t that continue?

The portal rankings data doesn’t match what you’re saying

It doesnt matter who they replaced Saban with, maintaining that level of success is over. The playing field has been leveled, which is why Saban left to begin with. Bama should just be thankful for the run they had.
Can't believe people are so retarded and don't believe this. They weren't that great his last year. They lost to bum ass Michigan. Something that would never happen before. Out his own mouth Saban said he didn't like the NIL. His plantation run was over and he knew he could never compete. He also stated that the NIL effected his locker room. Some Players were talking about their NIL deals and were not passionate about the loss.
