Even now, the lottery system in its current form isn't that bad as we've seen teams in the latter half of the lottery managed to jump into the top 6 a la Memphis, New Orleans and even someone like Toronto. They should tweak the odds a bit more, but not to the point that they run the risk of a team that barely misses the playoff manages to end up with a #1 pick and a can't miss prospect in the process.
But also the conversation about tanking has gotten so big that people don’t seem to understand that some teams are just genuinely bad. Like even if every team tried their best to put in the most competitive team possible regardless of if it only strengthens them in the short-term, there’s still gonna be trash teams.
