Simple randomize the draft lottery completely, make every non-playoff team have an equal shot at landing the No. 1 pick

Relegate to where?
Silver wants the NBA to be premier league so bad.
This is the best solution.Simple randomize the draft lottery completely, make every non-playoff team have an equal shot at landing the No. 1 pick
, maybe have a tourney for the the 3nd to 7th worst records to earn the 1st to 4th picks and ones in dead last get put in the lottery for 5th pick on

Even now, the lottery system in its current form isn't that bad as we've seen teams in the latter half of the lottery managed to jump into the top 6 a la Memphis, New Orleans and even someone like Toronto. They should tweak the odds a bit more, but not to the point that they run the risk of a team that barely misses the playoff manages to end up with a #1 pick and a can't miss prospect in the process. That was the original setup…but then people complained so they brought in the weighted lottery system![]()
There’s no problem with that if it discourages teams from tanking.Even now, the lottery system in its current form isn't that bad as we've seen teams in the latter half of the lottery managed to jump into the top 6 a la Memphis, New Orleans and even someone like Toronto.
