Mostly indifference, no one wants black people at the top so these types of lawsuits will keep coming. Most of the top universities and graduate programs were already altering their admissions to remove overt dependence on numbers and a quota system. Many top universities made SAT and ACT optional, they also spend more time reviewing applications to see if someone is socioeconomically disadvantaged or from an underserved community.

Most students aren't going to the top universities so we can look at what happened in California, Asians benefitted the most, and there was a drop in black enrollment. This is just another example of America not giving a fukk about black people.

Am I wrong for thinking this will negatively impact affluent non-ADOS the most?

It's not just elite private colleges. Most colleges and universities in the US, use race as part of the admission criteria. And the ones that don't, are actually heavily asian. The university of California system for example doesn't use race, and they're all heavily asian.

Yup. Tried to shyt on us using AA to get in and removing it backfired on Cooper and Amy.

As long as affirmative action in the workplace isn't overturned, I don't care.

Besides, black folks who get into these so called elite college on their own merit are usually lumped in together with AA recipients which in turn gives the impression that black people are academically inferior.

Hbcus are still a thing and crying about this is actually embarrassing imo.

If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
And to be real, even the schools that say they take into account socioeconomic disadvantages, and underserved populations — in my anecdotal experience with PhD programs — it appears like it’s all fluff talk. Like, Yale, is not letting you into their school despite how much bullshyt racially, socioeconomically, etc., you’ve had to overcome if you aren’t a stellar student. You probably could have gotten in anyways. Being from an
impoverished background surely has not done anything for me yet in the application process. :sadcam:

I still believe I got into college due to affirmative action. My university was 90% white, i actually used to play ball with a guy who was on the committee that makes sure they accept enough black students and he pretty mucb said that the only reason most of the black students are there is to meet a quota. :francis:

Were you too stupid for the course work?

If a single election can take away your basic rights and freedoms then you never had them to begin with

That's everywhere around the world. You gotta be on some French Revolution style protests if they ever take away basic rights for black folks.

It will affect everyone, sure some non-ADOS will be bumped from elite universities but they will go to midtier schools and state schools, they will be fine. The person that truly needs the boost to get their foot into the college environment that will give up after getting rejected will be the most impacted.

I said the places were this is an "issue", there are no asians protesting because they didn't get into University of Wilmington. Point is the colleges have agency in terms of the criteria they use. Remove race and it's still other criteria they will use to get black students in. In the article they mention shyt like politics views and "background". The asians are trying force the system to be like their home countries, based entirely off test scores, but it's not happening here.

Another thing is a worst case scenario here strengthens HBCUs, hopefully it doesn't come to that but that's a potential side effect

This 100%.

You can game the system by taking a bunch of SAT prep classes, all AP classes etc. Asians prefer to focus on test scores because to them it's the fairest way to evaluate....but it's also their best way to stand out.

A more holistic process that focuses on everything? Who would a college prefer: Jamal has a 3.8 GPA, 1350 SAT score, came from the hood and was all district in football/basketball....or Soo Yung with a 4.0 GPA, 1500 SAT score that plays the violin, chess and grew up middle/upper middle class?

They can find 1,000 Soo Yung's but Jamal's will have a much more profound impact on campus.

Going by test scores is like judging an NBA prospect on just their vertical leap or an NFL prospect on their 40. It's an important piece of info....but doesn't tell the whole story.

Also, they treat the college admissions process like its a game they can beat and like they should be guaranteed admission for having certain scores. Like because you got a 4.0 GPA and a 1500 SAT score, you automatically get into Harvard. Nah. You're going to get into A top school just like you're going to likely get A top job but, you can't demand shyt...every top school or every top company still reserves the right to find the perfect candidate on an overall/holistic basis. Go tell Goldman Sachs, Blackstone, Google and Facebook that you demand a 200K a year job and you better get it because of your grades/test scores. They gonna laugh in your face. It's the same sh*t. They're looking for someone that's amazing all across the board just like the schools are.
